1. Realize you are a sinner. Me, you, everybody is.
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
2. Realize the penalty for sin.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
3. Realize that God saw your situation and sent his Son Jesus to save you.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
4. Accept the payment that Jesus made for you. There is nothing good that you can do to earn heaven. You can't earn it. It's a gift from God. If we had to earn heaven we would all go to hell because you and I both know that we are not perfect and as long as we live in human bodies we will be imperfect.
Pray this prayer. The words alone wont save you. Make sure you mean it.
"God. I know that I am a sinner and because I'm a sinner I am lost and on my way to hell. But Jesus died for me to save me from hell. Jesus, thank you for dying for me. I'm trusting the payment that you have made for my salvation. I will not depend on the good things that I do, but on what you did. That was God's main purpose for sending you because I can't save myself. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me."
NOTE: There are several religions that insist that if you sin after you've been saved that you will lose your salvation. There is nothing that you can do to lose your salvation anymore than there is anything you can do to stop being your parents child. "But as many as received him (Jesus) to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
It's natural for someone who has been given a great gift to show appreciation. If God has given you heaven, wouldn't it make sense to seek him through prayer, Bible study, and church attendance? I personally don't go to church, but I read my Bible daily and I pray. God is good. Believe me, after you have been saved, sin won't seem as great as it used to.
God Bless You.

1. Faith in Jesus Christ
2. Repentance, which includes confession to those wronged and to God
3. Baptism which cleans you of your sins.
4. Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost so that you have a guide through the rest of your life.
This is just the beginning. This gets you on the path. It is not the end. To reach the end, you must do things everyday to build your faith. And days where you fall down a little, repent some more, and get back on the path.

Believe in Jesus finished work on the cross. Everything else is a natural reaction to salvation.

It's not so much as which order it is, but the importance is them doing these things. Repent means turn from it, because I think that people think forgivness is repentance, but Him forgiving you and you jump up and continue to engage in your mess is different from Him forgiving you and you loving Him enough to repent(turn away from)their ways.

First, DISBELIEVE. Unless you disbelieve, your quest for truth won't begin & you will be engulfed in blind superstitions. Therefore start from scratch & work your way upto true belief, the sort of faith which stands on firm ground - far beyond all doubt, when you KNOW what's true, irrespective of what others say or believe.

Forgive others. That comes first. Christ said, "I will use for Thee the same measure you use for others." That means, "I can forgive anything you can forgive."
The rest is tradition and ritual. Follow the Ten Commandments, forgive others, any you'll already be doing what's neeeded.
