My Grandfather is an Evolutionary Biologist and he says that nothing bothers him more then people thinking that Science has some kind of Vendetta against Religion. Like they are almost out to disprove god. He says that Science simply works with what they observe and take it from there. He says its much like Gallileo, Gallileo discovered something he knew would be seen as Heresy but he just had to present his information. Science is the same way, They present the information and people can interpret it how ever they want. I have never heard a Scientist say "believe me or suffer the consequences" Do you think most people are just afraid of what science discovers?

I could not agree with you more! I sometimes feel like people think that a group of Scientists got together one day and said...lets make up evolution just to mess with Christians. And lets create the Big bang theory just to get people riled up. I mean that was never the intention...it was just an attempt to study things beyond our understanding. Look at it this way, If people just relied on the bible for answers and never progressed our ways of thinking then we would still think that the earth was flat...that The Sun revolved around the earth...and people would still be dying in massive amounts from curable diseases. I mean we could have all just said ...lets just rely on god to fix everything but we didn't. We as humans took it upon ourselves to help each other out. we got tired of seeing people die so we made discoveries. We could have just sat back and did nothing.

I happen to think that science over the last 20 years has actually proven the existence of God by discovering the complexity of life on a microscopic level which was before thought to have been more simplistic.

I am looking forward to more discoveries, especially as the DNA of different species is studied. The one thing that I wish is that the facts would be viewed with less bias and that "anomalies" that don't fit in with the preconceived theory of evolution would not be dismissed.

As far as scientists being objective I would heartily disagree with that, when you consider how they vehemently attack those with a different viewpoint. Go no farther than Yahoo Q&A to see that.
I was blatantly attacked by science teachers because I did not see things their way, even though I love science and usually had the highest score in class.

The main problem here is humanity has a problem with anyone who disagrees with them because of small-mindedness. There is enough on both sides to go around.

I think you will find that the percentage of objective, truth seeking people is very small. It just happens to be a little smaller on the religious side.

When people do not understand the true nature of God, they have a hard time reconciling the two. God created the universe. He used science at His incredibly expanded knowledge to do so. All scientific fact and knowledge comes from God.

Sometimes, we as mere mortals, see some things and draw conclusions based on what we have seen. Many times our conclusions are correct. Sometimes our conclusions are not correct.

God is a God of knowledge. He wants us to learn about all different things. Math, Science, Philosophy, Language, Literature, Religion, History. God expects us to learn about all subjects of study. All these things make a person well rounded. It seems it is when we leave some things out of our study is when we begin to go wrong.

I don't know why many scientists turn away from God and many religionists turn away from science. It would seem to me that they would work a whole lot better hand in hand.

This whole controversy between evolution and creation is the one that really leaves me scratching my head. Why do evolutionists just decide that there is no God just because they believe in evolution? Could it not be that God used evolution in many ways in His methods of creation? Could it not be that God that everything happened in just the right order and in just the right sequence to create the earth and all living things?

Yes God did create Adam and he did create Eve. But exactly how did that happen, I do not know. I am not sure that I believe that Adam and Eve evolved from some other form. I don't think that they had parents in the sense that you and I have parents. I don't know.

What I do know is that God does exist. he has proved that to me, or better revealed that to me on countless occasions. I cannot deny the existence of God. At the same time I cannot deny that there are some things in science that just do not agree with some things in religion. Those things I will just have to take on faith that at the appropriate time, God will reveal the truth of it all. But as for now, it really has no bearing on my eternal salvation.

The only people who think science is out to disprove religion are those who are:
1. Badly educated in what science is, and therefore are willing to believe what they are told versus what the actual truth of the matter is.
2. Insecure about their religion, thus see the need to set up fake persecution to validate what they are trying to believe.

They're terrified of science because everytime they turn around, science has discovered another principle or hypothesis or theory that contradicts their various holy books and pushes us further and further away from being the center of the universe.

Galileo and Kepler, for example, were condemned for their work on the solar system because they showed that not only was Earth not the only planet, but that it was not even the center of the solar system. Symbolically, this was viewed as taking man from being the center of the universe.

The goal of religion is the assumption that Mankind is the Pinnacle and Reason for all of existence, because Mankind groupthink says we can't possibly be purposeless. When all the scientific evidence points to use just being a microscopic speck on a microscopic electron on a microscopic atom on a microscopic molecule in the vast sea of the universe, it's a huge kick to the collective and metaphorical b@lls of the human race.

Some of us grunt and buy a cup & strap. The rest run scared and decry the newest revelation to be Heresy of the worst kind.

Well, knowing that His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other wise geshes and lamas have been working closely WITH science to better understand the Buddha's logic and finding it meshing nicely, I certainly cannot say that science is out to disprove religion.

Excellent point! As a Christian, I can tell you that I know nothing of proven science that disproves the existence of God or His creation.

Science draws relevant conclusions from the available evidence-nothing more. It isnt out to prove or disprove any theological beliefs.

It sounds to me like your grandfather is a good man, and I think you've learned an important fact about this debate at a young age. I couldn't agree more with the two of you.
