My daughter had two part time jobs this summer and they took out ssecurity and Med - but not hardly any Federal or State tax. She made about $1600 total. Does she have to file and pay taxes?

If she wants to get back the federal and state tax that was deducted she will have to file, most likely form 1040EZ. There is a question on the front of the form that asks if you can be claimed on someone else's tax return. When you answer 'yes' you are directed to complete a worksheet on the back of the form. This will tell you what your standard deduction will be. My guess is that she would probably get a complete refund of federal taxes withheld and a complete or partial refund of the state taxes. It depends on the state where you live and how much was actually deducted in state tax. Unless there are other factors involved that you have not mentioned, it should be a fairly simple procedure.

as she is also making money show her as your dependent . i think you get exemtion for that as she is minor .

no but she does havta fill out her w2 forms
