The idiot cat scratched me on my head and it's bleeding. Should I tell? Should I get them to look at it? It's my sister's cat but it stays with me.

my sister got cat scratch disease (not fever, disease) from a...you guessed it, cat scratch! it was years ago i don't remember all of it, but i do know that they had no idea what was wrong with her, they thought she had cancer or something until some doctor got the crazy idea to test her for this. and she had red bumps in her groin and under her armpits. but the disease was there for a long time, it didn't manifest itself for a while.

she is the only person that i have ever seen get it and it was only once. we all have been scratched in my family over and over and over. the chances are very slim of getting it.

You should tell your sister, for sure.

My cats scratch me on a regular basis (because I play with them -- to me, it's OK). I have never had a serious infection, but it could happen. You've heard the term "cat scratch fever" -- it's real, rare, but real.

Wash out the wound very well with soap. Keep an eye on it. It might get more reddish in a day or two and then start to heal-up, but if if keeps getting worse after 2 days see a doctor.

You'll live. Don't worry about it. Just wash the scratch with soap and water. I have had numerous cat scratches from both indoor domestic cats and outdoor feral cats. I never caught an infection or anything like that. I just wash with soap and water as soon as I am able after I get scratched.
