Wont let me play video in AVI Format ??

Question

Trying to play a video in AVI format and it says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." can you please tell me how i can get it to play. I think that i will need to install something.

Go to http://divx.com and download the divx codec from there. Sounds like the file was made with a newer version of the codec (COder/DECoder) then you have your PC, so it can not read it. It is free.
