I have some friends. Their mother has gone crazy over a guy and has pratically abandoned all her parental responsibilities. She's locking the kids out of the house and making it known that she doesn't want them there and the house is going to be for her and her new bf.

The kids want to leave. I should say young adults there are three of them and the youngest is 18.

Child support is about to run out I think but the father owes a lot of back child support as well so they can still expects checks for some years to come.

The question is can they get the checks to be made out to them instead of going to their mother who is doing nothing for them? They are going to move out so will anyone get a check?

no they wont check unless someone reports it. they cant cash the check (or use the debit cards in some states), so the mom will be getting the support, not them.

the youngest of them is 18 (almost done high school i am guessing), so i would just say let them go.

they are ALL now grown and old enough to know an azzhole when they see one. something very big happened to get such a reaction out of ALL THREE OF THEM.

personally, i would just step back out of that whole situation, 'cause i strongly suspect its gonna get ugly.

The children should check with the local court department in their area that handles child support issues. In my state the back support would go to the mother, she is the one that raised them without the support to begin with. The only way the children would be entitled to continued support would be if they are full time students, and then the mother and father general share the educational & support expenses according to financial situations (30/70, 50/50, etc). If the youngest of these young adults are at least 18 the mother is not required to continue to support them. Maybe she feels she has supported them to the appropriate time and now they are on their own and she is going to live life for herself. Maybe they need to grow up a little? Good luck and God Bless.

This is a tough question. I suggest possibly discussing this matter with their father. The father will know who his child support rep is and either him or the children can call and speak with the rep. The rep at Child Support Enforcement should be able to answer all of their questions. It's a shame these young adults have to deal with this. I wish the best for them. Good Luck & God Bless!

if the father, does not want help?why should the mother ,in this case?and how are u to say, that the mother"is doing "nothing" ?well she has done!,and now its time to let it go!! ask ur friends to "grow up" and move their ***,and find a job, elsewhere, don't understand, why must the mother.,be the one to pay for all the mistakes of the kids and husband..,Although she is doing no good,in leave her kids, for a mutt, its like..jumping from a PAN,hot one.,straight into A FIRE.,and believe me.maybe some day,she will regret it.,anyways,meanwhile.her children, should be able to find alternatives.or ask help from their father,or arrange with their mother, for accommodations, until they are settled in life..well,i feel sorry for them but....good luck! and don't worry.life is like this.like the animals.we got be on our ow,sometimes.someday in our lives.as part of "growth".

The back pay for child support should be the kids. It was always intended for them and only them so they should get it. But they may have to go to court over it.

like i have said before proof , proof and more, usually checks stop when kids reach 18,
so contact legal aid for the kids, family services etc. there are the answers out there but they are in your state. so make some calls, and get proof of her and what is says and does.

i sure hope the kids get it, tell them to see an attorney, most have first consultation for free, all of the $ is supposed to be for them anyway--not the 'mother'
