My daughter has a scabbed bump on her back and on her scalp. And also a bump on her face. THis is not normal. And she had a note come home from school saying that one of the kids in her class had it and that she was exposed to it. I am not sure how fast they start occuring, or much of anything...please help.

Incubation for chicken pox is 2 weeks.

The scalp is quite often first place they show up. There is an early treatment option that will lessen the severity of the infection. Call you doctor immediately, especially if not everyone in your family has already had chicken pox!

Good luck.

approx. 1 to 2 weeks after exposure. They will usually run a small fever a few days before getting the blisters. Chicken pox are quite obvious. They are VERY itchy and they look like blisters. Usually start on the chest, back, or other part of the torso.
You may want to check her shot records too and see if she has been immunized for the chicken pox. The bumps you are seeing could be from something else. Chicken pox blisters usually take a week or more to scab over.

if its going to be full blown, itll start with congestion and fever, then the outbreak...many just get a few bumps like that and nothing else if they have residual immunity.
