Feeling that way is completely and utterly normal. Being scared to go to the doctor is understandable, and always remember that online tests are not the most reliable things in the world. I have done that myself, done an online test and decided I had cancer because my toe hurt. i started imagining I had symptoms.

Depression is a legitimate illness, unlike how it was considered not too long ago. There are lots of avenues to explore, but you have to be strong enough to take that first step. It is terrifying, but they are trained to help you. No one can say anything to make you take that first step to the doctor, but if you are brave enough it will be the best thing you will ever do.

Losing interest in things, not empathising with others, and everything you have described, is normal, and everyone experiences it once in their lives. Some only for a few moments, but others are nearly crippled by it. Don't let yourself be one of these people. We are stronger than the illness, and once that first step is taken you are no longer alone in the battle.

It doesn't immediately get easy as soon as you make that initial appointment, but if you keep trying then things will eventually seem less crushing.

Maybe even tell a family member or a friend how you are feeling, maybe they will go to the doctor with you.

The depression cannot beat you unless you allow it to. Fight back and it doesn't stand a chance.

I send you all the best, my thoughts are with you.

That online test is spot on, you are suffering severe depression which often goes hand in hand with acute anxiety. It's a medical condition, and like any other medical condition it needs to be treated in order for you to feel better. The problem, as you have summed up yourself in your question, is that the symptoms themselves make seeking help seem pointless or too difficult or too scary. This is perfectly normal. If you have anybody close to you get their help, get them to come with you to the doctor. You will need to be refered to a mental health specialist, don't worry they are usually very very nice.

If you can write about how you're feelings and your experiences. This will be invaluable to the specialist. You may feel you can't be bothered to do even that, that's normal too. Do you best. The specialist will be able to prescribe a course of treatment which may involve medication and or theropy which will help you to manage the condition. It is treatable, you can feel better. It just takes a bit of time. You will have to see the specialist at regular intervels to check the treatment is working as it should. Unfortunately unlike like most other conditions ie diabetes a simple blood test can show how well the treatment is working. With this type of condition it can't so time and regular review is the only way.

In the meantime there are things you can do that will help you. It may sound silly but try and ensure that you are looking after your physical wellbeing. Eat regular healthy meals including plenty of vegetables, drink plenty of water, take regular exercise and ensure that you are getting enough sleep. The last one can be particularly hard if you suffer from anxiety as it is usually at night when it's quiet that all those dreadful thoughts flood in. It is important though, things like lack of sleep, excessive caffine or alcohol, even excessive sugar consumption can cause depression. You don't want to aggrevate the underlying condition with something you can prevent. Also ensure you get out of the house every day. This again can be difficult as you may feel anxious about seeing people, or not sufficiently motivated. Make yourself, even if you only walk to the corner shop to buy milk. Lack of natural daylight is known to cause depression also the endorfins the body create during exercise are a natural antidepressent.

You are suffering from and extremely horrible condition, but I'll tell you again, it is treatable, you don't have to feel like that. Good Luck

Make yourself get in to see your doctor; the sooner the better. You are suffering and I know you know there are meds these days that DO help. Caring about it is definitely a part of it, but make yourself and when you feel better you'll wonder why you waited so long. A small thing that will help you with the anxiety is an item called "Rescue Remedy" by Bach Flower Remedies. You probably need something more pharmaceutical in the long-term but it could help you at least get started. You have access to a computer so look for it and order it on-line. Get started you must. Feel better soon, friend.

Depression can be caused by a physical problem although everyone thinks of it as a mental or emotional one.

I got depression after a virus infection and looked up 'depression' on the Internet. It said it can be caused by a chemical in-balance and sometimes it can be corrected by a good diet and eating particular foods. It also said exercise was good as well because fairly brisk exercise changes the chemical balance in the brain.

I changed by diet and started doing some basic exercise - a brisk walk every day.

This might sound like complete rubbish when you are feeling so low but. believe me, I know what it is like to wake up in the morning and just not see the point in living.

It worked for me.

I did see my doctor but apart from dumping all my anxieties on to him I didn't need any medication or other help once I decided to help myself.

A chemical imbalance in the brain can be helped with antidepressants. They take a week or two to start working, but once they do, you'll wonder why you didn't go to the doctor ages ago. sometimes when you don't want to do something you've just got to make yourself do it. Take the first step and pick up the phone and make an appointment. A doctor will know if this treatment is right for you, and which kind

My advice is:

Think about your loved ones.
I understand that you don't have any emotions about them, however, how do you think you would feel if they were going through depression? I think what you really need to do is find someone you trust, or at least used to trust, and sort out your problems with them. Family at this time can be very helpful. Another thing I would suggest is get a pet. You'll enjoy their company, and you will have responsibilities for them (speaking of which, gotta go feed my dog)

Nothing is real my good fellow. Millions of people wake up and go to a job they hate just to earn enough to satisfy their wants. We have constant pressure to perform but we just can't do it without feeling empty and used; we are slaves to the modern world of excess and desire. Our lives are based around complication and inconvenience - under a pretense of it all being easier now that it was before.

Trust me - go live on an island somewhere and live a simple life, fishing or something- I'm starting to think that's the only way to live a happy, stress free life without all the crap (bills, technology that doesn't work, political correctness, pollution, your boss etc.).

Yes, get into see a doctor, someone who is good. And shop around! Get into a support group. Depression is sometimes chemical imbalance and sometimes caused by events (death, divorce, car accident, some other trauma). Seek help. Tell your family or someone you trust about what's going on. People love you and want to help you.

There is no fear in seeing the type of doctor you need to see. He will expect you to be withdrawn and depressed. That's why you would be there. You deserve to feel better. Talk with God and let him lead you. He can show you the way out. Let him, doctors, friend's, and family all help you...YOU ARE loved!
