where do I find directions for building a small stage?

I want a stage for my daughter's American Idol party - any ideas or someplace I can go for directions?

Most party rental stores have small stages or portable dance floors.

I think your best bet would be to swing by your local college and visit the theater department. Ask about hiring a couple of college theater kids to build you a raised platform and some step units.
