Friendly fire is usually caused by a lack of communication. On the battlefield you must know the EXACT location of all of the troops, one slip up and folks wind up dead.
Most of the deaths in the First Gulf War were caused by friendly fire.

These 2 incompetents should be charged with gross negligence They ignored protocol and had 6 minutes to ID the convoy .Neither should be allowed near an aircraft again ,let alone continue to have a career in the military.
BTW No the Brits never straffed their own people during the Falklands.
It's a pity Saddam was executed before he had time to thank these to incompetents for services to the Iraqi war effort.

The military gets free medical, dental and eye exams. This was a mistake and the sheer grief these soldiers are going to have to live with is just another tragic side effect of war. Making light of it is not in the best of taste.

Give it up already. The pilots feel terrible about what happened! You think they ENJOYED killing a fellow fighter? I has happened in ALL wars and will in the future. You think you LIMEYS never made a mistake and killed one their own troops?
How can "THOUSANDS OF EXCELLENT TROOPS" be given "slipping training methods"? Care to explain that incongruity?
What an arrogant, pompous old poop!

It's happened in every war in history.
My platoon (NAM) got strafed by an Army heliocopter, luckily he couldn't shoot any better than he could read a map.
Didn't you Brits strafe your own in the Falklands?
Yes, you did.
