She lived as mother to James and other disciples. She had to receive her Son as Lord and Savior for she was a mere sinner as were the rest of the world.

The Bible doesn't say specifically what Mary did. I am sure it would have said if she had done anything other than live out the rest of her day as any other person would have.
As far as spreading the word, I talk about my kids all the time and the greatest thing they've ever done is raise money for charity. Imagine how I would talk if my son was the one who brought salvation to the world.

Mary is not the mother of God...think about that statement. Mary was the mother of the Jesus, by the power of God, through his holy spirit. Jesus is the Son of God, his only-begotten Son. Jesus is not God, and it really dishonors them both, Father and Son, for this mis-conception to be propagated. Mary continued living until she died. She and her husband Joseph had other children, James and Jude to mention two.
Matthew 3:16 & 17: "After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. 17 Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
Think about the following few verses...could Satan really tempt God with this, being how everything was created by God and already belonged to him? However, for a time God allows Satan to rule the kingdoms (governments) of the world, and could offer them to Jesus God's Son, because the time had not yet come for Jesus to be in power.
Luke 4:5-8 "So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; 6 and the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it. 7 You, therefore, if you do an act of worship before me, it will all be yours.” 8 In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
