I think its sort of a psychological and enviromental thing. I'm hispanic/black and grew up with only white kids and now all I like are white guys. Yeah there were some mixed guys but they thought they were so fab that they gravitated to whoever was hot at the time.
Honestly, I feel like there is no preference biologically, but since I'm more comfortable being around white people that maybe that is the reason why am more attracted to white guys. oh and my stepdad was white too (he was the only real dad i ever knew) so maybe that has something to do with it. I've dated different races but never made great connections.
This is a good question but there are so many factors.

well it's often said that opposites attract...sometimes. but in many cases we tend to attract the person we have a lot in common with...in some cases it might be race. In general we are talking about 2 different people getting to know each other so we tend to find the situation with the least amount of complications to deal with...nothing wrong with attracting opposite races...as long as you're happy. if another person froam another race tend to have a lot in common with you then go for the attraction

i do believe that the statement that you put up there is true. i guess its the way that you said it we are programmed. but know people date all kinds of people and kids come out all different now. which i think its good. but for me since im mexican i would like to date my own kind because i once dated a white guy and he was just having a hard time why my family is so different or why my family is not like his we are just different but dont get me wrong some people may disagree with me and thats ok it jsut people are different and people can date who ever they feel comfortable with.

I don' think so because I'm white, and I am highly attracted to black men, so I think that no, and some people may be attracted to people of their own race, but that doesn't mean that just because they're white and have a white boyfriend that they are closed-minded. You can't help who you fall in love with, you just fall.

I am white and I must say that I am equally attracted to white or dark girls as long as they are lovely. I must say that a dark eastern girl ticks all the boxes.
Look at Shilpa or Shelly Conn that lovely dark lady from the new political send-up. Could anyone refuse her?
I would also say that it has nothing to do with colour as though I like dark girls, I'm not that mad about the Bushman or Aboriginal look.

I'm Brazilian (Latina) and I've never dated a Latin man. My husband is Polish but to be honest I've never let nationality or race be a deciding factor in who I date. I'm turned on by a man's personality and mentality. For whatever reason I always end up being drawn to white men. (As for other people ? You have to ask them.)

Most people are attracted to their own race due to their similar upbringing, religious beliefs and ethnic culture. If you look around you, it is fairly obvious that those of the same racial background are in the majority. There are exceptions, but it ins't the rule.

I think it depends where you live. So its not psychological or programmed to do. Its all down to the culture, education, your friends, family, religion - anything that can shape your thoughts! Your question can apply to - do people with big ears date those who do not have big ears? Its not race but culture & all race have differnt cultural aspects!

Well Clare C, thanks for taking the spotlight off
of my question. But anyway, I think that through
time, people will begin to just realize that we are
all human. Because the melting pot will overwhelm
any type of opposition, and backlash, that anyone
can even bring up. It is becoming an international
phenomenon, and with good reason. Perhaps that
is our only solution, to racism.

I think at one time that may have been true, but today, i think most people are attracted to someone for whats on the inside, not the outside! Thank God for change!
