There are six Marys mentioned in the New Testament.
And in the Old, you'll need to understand that Miriam is the Hebrew form of Mary.
Mary, mother of Jesus
Mary Magdalene
Mary, mother of James (the less)
Mary of Bethany (sister of Lazarus)
Mary, mother of John Mark and sister of Barnabas Acts 12:12)
Mary, a helper in Rome to Paul (Romans 16:6)
Miriam, sister to Moses and Aaron (Exodus 15)

Mary Magdalene, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary the mother of James and Joses
But the name is "Miriam" - so you must add:

it depends, in the Chrisitian faith the first recorded was Stephen. there are many other who were not recorded but lived during Bible times. Peter was crucified upside down, John of Patmos was boiled in oil, some were beheaded and some were stoned, some were put in coliseums to be eaten by lions. some were quartered, some were stabbed to death. in the first 400 years of Christianity, persecution was a way of life, and yet it became the fastest growing religion in the world and has not stopped....oops i just read your question.....LOL my dyslexia. i thought it said MARTYR..........please forgive me
