If you have a theme pick out a thing or two that matches that and use it for a goody bag. Skip the candy. There are kids, like my son, that have red dye allergies and it is in nearly every single kind of candy or baked good out there. Reactions to the dye can be very severe in some kids and you won't always know who may have it or not and probably don't want parents of a dye free kid taking the candy and junk foods away causing tantrums or melt downs after the party. Look for inexpensive things that the kids would enjoy (especially 6 year olds): stuffed animal stickers crayons and a coloring book since it's summer how about a beach ball or inflatible swim ring float? Those are not expensive and are about everywhere right now. sidewalk chalk pack of washable markers small pot or bucket and a packet of seeds to plant sand bucket with shovel Another idea is to do a craft at the party and let that be their favor to take home. You can check craft stores for things like photo frames to decorate, unfinished bird houses they can paint, get some blank tote bags, hats or shirts and let them decorate their own with fabric paint. There are also cute plastic jars that you could get and some colorful sand and let the kids do sand art in them to take or get inexpensive packages of painting canvas (check Walmart or Hobby Lobby for three packs around $6). Let the kids create a painting of their own to take. If it's just girls get some cute flip flops (check dollar bins and places) and get some cute fabric cut in strips OR ribbons in colors and let them tie them on to make their own special pair.
