me too...I use to have the same problem I use to turn to alcohol but thats not good. I didn't know what to do about it either until I had kids. No one would understand unless they suffer from it. Have some kids back to back..lol...that will solve it..they are your sleeping pill and alarm. ;0) Here are some ideas I found:

See a Doctor
Take a Warm Bath
Get a Massage
Listen to Music
Drink Warm Milk
Drink Herb Tea
Eat a Bedtime Snack
Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol and Tobacco
Sleep in a Well-Ventilated Room
Sleep on a Good Firm Bed
Sleep on Your Back
Get Some Physical Exercise During the Day
Keep Regular Bedtime Hours
If You Can't Sleep, Get Up
Don't Sleep In
Get Up Earlier in the Morning
Keep Your Bed a Place for Sleep
Avoid Naps
Avoid Illuminated Bedroom Clocks

Sleep With Your Head Facing North
Don't Watch TV or Read Before Going to Bed
Toe Wiggling
Stomach Rub
Progressive Relaxation
Deep Breathing
Visualize Something Peaceful
Visualize Something Boring
Imagine It's Time to Get Up
Quiet Ears

This is a disorder that only becomes more aggravating when you worry about it.

- let your doctor know that the suggestions are not working - if you've tried them. Exercise should be done earlier in the day and not right before bed.

- every one sleeps more than they realize - no one knows exactly when they fall asleep or the point when they wake - unless it's the alarm clock.

- most sleep doctors recommend getting out of bed after about 20 minutes - go out to the living room and relax until sleepy again then back to bed.

-start good sleep hygene habits - go to bed at a regular time each night, do not watch TV, eat, pay bills etc. in bed - the bed is for sleep and sex only.

-try a light snack of turkey sandwich and hot milk with vanilla and sweetener - both are high in a natrual chemical that helps sleep.

If all that doesn't not help you may need a sleep study - there are many medical conditions it can diagnose that contribute to insomnia.
