First advice: Don´t come here carrying British Pounds. You´ll have trouble to exchange them at most of places. Buy US Dollars or Euros, and you´ll be lucky.

How much will you expend, depens on where do you go. Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Ushuaia and Calafate are very expensive, because there are many European people who come all times, so restaurants, hotels, shops, and so are always full... they don´t need to get attractive to clients for low prices. But even in those places you can find many cheap things, if you go to the right place. Differences are important: A single hotel room, in a five-stars one, with breakfast is worth about U$S 300 per night. A dinner in a fashion restaurant may cost about USD 50. But you can also have a bath, sleep, and have an almost-homemade-breakfast in a clean, warm and friendly room of a small, not famous hotel for U$S 35. And you can eat a magnificient "parrillada" with a very good national wine (BBQ) for U$S 20. But you will not find those ones easily. The usually don´t appear in the tourist guides or webpages. So my second advice is: Look for people, (using ICQ, for example), make some friends here, and your friends will show or recommend you the safest, cleanest, cheapest, and nicest things.
