OH~and do you know if those "group meetings" they have available would be helpful for one to attend?

Stress tends to exacerbate most types of mental disorders, in which case, it's best to try to avoid stress, and if worse comes to worst, and stress-relieving exercises don't work, there's always medication and counseling.

Also, yes, group meetings can be very theraputic. It helps you feel less wierd because you find out that there are other people out there with the same or similar problems you have, and it gives everyone something in common to talk about.

Find productive things to do during your "obsession" times (example: ride a bike, take a walk).
Don't know about the groups, but I bet they would br helpful. And you could meet other people who understand what you're dealing with.

my mother has full fledged ocd. but, if you can say that she is recovering, that is what she is doing.
she would make me pull out every appliance in our kitchen to clean behind it every weekend, with bleach, and nothing in her life every really changed it, except therapy.

i think that it is hereditary to some extent. i do have ocd tendancies, like the fact that i wash my hands 50x a day, and that when i am done, i dry them until they are dry. no water left on them at all. but i dont have it like my mother did, where it was affecting the way that she lived her life. her ocd lived her life.

try the group meeting, but a personal psycologist would be better.

good luck
