Obviously you are talking about the U.S. military service.

Each of the different services has thier own specialty (no brainer given the names of the branches). But, as far as which is the best to join that is purely a personal decision on your part, so I can't make that decision for you, just give you some pointers.

The Army and The Marines are pretty much combat troops. They are the ones that will be in the thick of it all, i.e. going house to house in Iraq. The major difference is that the Marines are (as far as the DOD is concerned) under the Department of the Navy. As such the Army is a much larger force. This isn't to diminish the role of the Marines in anyway of course. The Marines however are typically the first ones in, yes the Army is on the way but with Marine units being deployed on Naval ships (one of the benefits to the DOD's viewpoint) are able to get to the area of operations quicker. One of the disadvantages to the DOD's viewpoint is that with the Marines being a much smaller group they don't need as much funding. In fact the Marines funding comes directly from the funds earmarked for the Navy. This makes the equipment that is used by the Marines to not be quite state of the art. That is what you *will* get in the Army. They gets lots of money and as such the weapon systems are substantially better than the Marines. Sorry.

The Navy is obviously the ones on the water. If you have any aversion to being out at sea for long periods of time then the Navy is not for you. While the Navy will do things such as deployments to areas, during those 6 month (sometimes longer) deployments you are visiting several different countries along the way. As such you get to see ALOT of places that most people back home never will. In any case the Navy does go alot of places but you will always be in mostly cramped quarters with little or no privacy. There are alot of jokes about the pitfalls of shipboard life and how to replicate it (See link). The Navy does have land based units due to the fact that they have an air wing (i.e. Carrier Groups). So while it may seem that the Navy is nothing but ships, they aren't. However not many people go through an entire career in the Navy without being on ship at least once.

As for the Air Force I don't have alot of information about the daily regimen. Obviously they are the ones who fly everywhere. Air Force life is supposed to be pretty comfortable. One of the advantages to the Air Force is that they (or used to) do what is called homebasing. That is where if you get to an area that you like you can request to stay in that same location for the remainder of your career in the Air Force. Obviously there are most likely some kind of stipulations in this and unfortunately I don't know the details. I don't have any other real useful information about the Air Force other than they are typically paired with the Army for combat operations much the way the Navy and the Marines are linked.

The Coast Guard is actually under the Department of Transportation and only fall under the Department of Defense in times of declared war (i.e. not right now, but yes during Vietnam). Most people don't see the Coast Guard as a military force, but they have a very important job nonetheless. They are in charge of the waters directly off the coast of the U.S. This includes everything from the drug busts to replacing bouys to ice breaking in the arctic. Not a bad service in any regards.

There is no clear demarcation point to declare which service is better than the others. It all depends on the type of job you want to do. As far as the training I would put the Air Force as top in the quality of training they provide thier people, that is in science and technological terms. The Navy is a close second, and do have quite a few specialties that one can do. The Army with more money gets better equipment than the Marines as described above, but either way their role is the same: combat. I have no information regarding the type and quality of Coast Guard training. I hope all of this helps. Sorry for being so long winded.

Ex-protection rigidity men make the ideal pacifists. heavily, i've got met maximum of veterans who after seeing what conflict is, no longer the glorified video interest marketplace the protection rigidity will pay for, are greater of pacifists than i'm. The closets element I come to conflict is youngsters who convey weapons into the colleges. (i've got had 2 interior the final 2 years) yet, have been I to connect one branch, i might of joined the army. They appeared to have the main stepped forward technologies, and that i've got heard what people who flow interior the process the army's Nuclear coaching application gets a commission whilst they flow away the provider. As an rather final notice, it became the army SEALs who have been given Bin encumbered, who stored those terrorized via Somali Pirates, and so on... no longer the Marines, or the Rangers, or the different particular team. while you're into being a tricky guy, there is not greater durable than the SEALs.

Not the Marines, they are on the front lines in this War
Not the Army, they are next in line is a War
Not the Navy, unless you love being confined on a ship
Not the Coast Guard, unless you love chasing drug runners

So that leaves the US Air Force. That would be my first choice. I have seen the Air Force first hand by being a member of its Auxillary the Civil Air Patrol. You get treated better than any other branch. You get the best food, best shelter, best equipment, best health care, best jobs, best locations to live, and more. You are treated actually like a valuable soldier which is more than I can say for the other branches.

The Air Force is harder to get into and it is slower to advance in rank and pay but it is by far the best way to go. They are strict about weight and physical fitness but they want the best of the best. Education is important to them and for their soldiers. In the aerospace field you can even possible have a decent job when you get out. Or you can make a career out of it and retire early.
Check out the Air Force. I now wish my son would have gone Air Force instead of Army even though he is almost a Captain. The Army gave him the scholarship to the University.

as a female in the service i say it depends on what you are looking for. Travel Hit the Navy, Want to have action hit the Marines Or Army. I am in the Army and I think Women can move faster and further in the Army. If you are Officer material you may want the Airforce, they tend to suck for enlisted though. Want to stay home join the Coasties although you may find some are deployed around the world Quite a few found themselves in Vietnam. National Guard is the Army Light and we use them heavy!

Sorry- did you mean which is the 'best' millitary branch or which is the best one to join?

The 'best' millitary service is the SAS - but you can't join them from civillian life, and they're no picnic. I'd guess that the best service you could enter straight away would be a Marine unit.

The easiest millitary branch- possibly the air force or a national guard. In the air force, you'll be treated much bettter- but there's still a high chance of dying- wheras national guard units are less likely to fall.

Its not easy to judge- you'll have to consider what you like personally, and make your decision from there.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be a soldier, I would go marines or army. If you like the sea, the Navy would be a good choice. Technical jobs are a plenty in the Air Force. My old boss the retired navy chief said "If you want to have fun join the navy, if you want to learn something, join the Air Force".

If u wanna join for benefits and all that, go Air Force or Navy.

If you wanna join to just serve your country and kick some ***, join the Marines!

If you wanna get a good bonus, join the Army.

I personally believe that the Coast Guard is the easiest way to go, followed by the Air Force, then Navy, Army, and lastly the Marines being the toughest.

It all depends on which one will better fit your character and personality. Thats really what it all comes down to. However, the ARMY has over 212 jobs to choose from. I would have to say that if you are in to choices then the ARMY would be your best bet. But like I said, it all depends on YOU.
