It depends on the professionalism the dentist wants to portrait in his office. Most hygienist and assistants wear scrubs along with lab jackets. The front office employees also wear them or their own personal more professional clothing. Most dentist will wear casual dress clothing or shirt and tie, although some also don the scrubs and lab jackets. So it really depends on the dentist as to how he wants to present his practice to his patients. I have never seen a dentist wear jeans but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't unless they are in bad condition. Older patients may frown upon it though.

I know a dentist who only wears hawaiian shirts and slacks. That's his thing. Other than your lab coat, what you wear is not that important. You should not wear jeans and t shirt(toooo casual) but some nice casual trousers and collared shirt is perfectly fine. Scrubs are ok as well. As for nurses and hygenists, scrubs are the norm. A patient feels this is the appropriate uniform for them. It's a confidence issue. Some offices have a standard polo shirt with a logo on them and that is ok too. You should also keep a spare outfit in the office because you NEVER want to see a dentist or doctor with blood or stains on them. hope this helps!

No not that I'm aware of... It is required that they wear a face mask and rubber gloves when doing a procedure. They got away for wearing white coats because many patients suffer from the White Coat syndrome. Hygienist and nurses usually dress in scrubs

Its what ever the practice or DDS want. My office 20+ yrs ago started in just white pants and uniform tops for the hygn & asst. The docs wore white shirts with ties with a lab coat over. Today we all we scrubs with lab coats.
My childrens orthodontists office wears jeans with jean shirts with the practice logo on it. A very laid back office- so there is no protocal, it is what the boss wants you do!
