When I worked for Ford (I left in 2003) there were a few recalls that applied to 2000 model year Explorers. They may or may not apply to your vehicle, since it depends where the truck was built and sometimes it makes a difference what date a vehicle was built, and/or what the trim level and power group the vehicle was built with. Call your local Ford dealership or pay a visit to their service department. They have a computer system that is linked directly with Ford and they can search for recalls just by entering your V.I.N.

Check on the websites, but I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer and I have only had 2 recalls. First one was on the Firestone tires, which shouldn't be an issue to you. The second was some problem with the seatbelts. Generally Explorers and Mountaineers get the same recalls, but check Ford's website.
