Any animal that is used sspecifically for carrying loads. Sometimes used metaphoriacally in the sense that people can be beasts of burden for others (Either by choice or compulsion)

An animal used to carry loads, such as donkeys, horses, mules, oxen, camels, and elephants. If it carries something on its back, it's carrying a burden. This is where it can be used metaphorically for someone carrying the weight (guilt) of past actions.
