That depends on the preparer. Preparers are supposed to see something official with the number on it, like the card or a social security 1099. Most would probably take a copy of the previous year's return showing the number.

Filing a tax does not require the physical card, only the number. Just to be sure, contact your local Social Security office, which you have to do anyway to apply for a new card.

Don't ever rely on the government's representations as to how long something will take. With the Social Security Administration, it can anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks.

Yes, you can. However, you must report the lost SS card so that it can be cancelled and a new card issued for your daughter; the SSN will obviously remain the same, only it will be on a newer card.
It's important to report it, in case some unscrupulous person has found it, sold it to an illegal alien to obtain work with. Worse yet, someone could easily obtain credit card accounts etc using your daughter's SS card. Find it soon or report it soon to prevent problems for you and for your daughter.

Filing is normally done by mail or electronically, not in person. The SS numbers must be filled in at the appropriate spots on the forms, but no one is going to physically inspect a card.

All you need is the number, the IRS will not ask that you provide the Social Security Card.

Yes, you can still file your taxes, but you will need to get the card replaced as you may need it at some point. She will need it to get her drivers license or a job.

Yes...you don't need the card to file taxes. You will have to get it replaced eventually so she has one when she goes to work, but not now.
