Spanish has been the dominant language of Puerto Rico for over 500 years. The U.S. has been on the island since 1898. The U.S. never started a hard push to force the island's residents to learn English (they tried to no success). Therefore due to cultural links and strong nationalism, it is highly unlikely Puerto Ricans will ever adopt English as their sole official language. Spanish will always be the dominant language.

Look what the English try to do in Quebec after they took over that colony from France. The Quebecois never gave up their language. Puerto Ricans will do the same as the Quebecois and never surrender their language.

some colleges in puerto rico prepare english and intensely some do no longer. the inhabitants nevertheless many times looks like they seem to be a guy or woman u . s . even although they're technically a territory - lots of this is a satisfaction concern. And why shouldn't they talk Spanish there? that's the community language.

They don't care what the U.S. says or does on most things. I guess it goes to them not paying Federal taxes so they don't care that we are part of this country.
