Joseph did not do anything. god just said that Mary will have a son and she did, god did not even touch Mary.

Weird question.
Maybe you believe he is son of God. That is the Christian way.
However, not all of us believe he was such. Some of us believe he was a great prophet of God, but not the Son. He was a man of power and vision and great love.
"God begeteth nor nor is he begotten." This is our belief.

'They' call him the Son of God because Jesus called himself that.
