The criminals in this case are George W. Bush and Tony B. Liar. And don't give be that bull about "you can't support the troops without supporting the war". My cousin served 18 months (3 tours) in Iraq so I have an idea how hellish it is and from what he has told me most of the troops he served with don't think we should be there as well.

Of course, you can support the soldiers but not the War they are being sent to fight. Some of us believe that this War is not in our best interest. We love the military and think highly about their commitment to our country. The soldiers sacrifice so much every day whether they are in a war zone or not.
Our US Soldier has these problems to face:
Keeping relationships together, avoiding divorce
Health problems from all the innoculations they must take
No relationship with children as they are way too much
Constant moving from base to base, can not settle in anywhere
Constant Physical Training, abuse to the body
Constant stress, unhealthy for the mind
Low Wages, compared to the job they do for us
Lack of proper Health Care for our Vets
These soldiers are saints. They do what the Commander in Chief asks even though they do not always agree. They either go to War or go to Jail. Which would you pick?
The risk their lives everyday in many countires around the world, not just Iraq.
Our troops are brave young men and women. Many got into this career for an education or for the dicipline. They walked away from colleges, jobs, families to serve their Nation. They are doing that and I support them.
But I will never support a war that is useless control of another country. Where the US shows their might and pushes Democracy down the throats of people who do not want it. We have to stop policing the World. Once we are bankrupt we become weak and then lets see who will cross our borders and threaten us. I do not want to see the US vunerable and weak.
Do you?

It is possible to love the sinner but hate the sin. It's much easier to support the troops yet oppose the war - a sinner chooses to sin, but the troops did not choose to go to war. That decision was made for them.

The troops did not decide to start the war. They are not the ones who are keeping the war going. Therefor, it is completely possible to support the troops, but not the war. Think about it like this: If you hated a corporation like WalMart, would you then also hate the college kid who was working at your local store? No, because he does not represent the corporation of WalMart.

If it were your child that was involved in a horrible crime, would you support him/her although you thought their actions were terribly misguided? I support our troops one billion percent regardless of whether we are at war or not. It is the person you are supporting not the idea behind as to why he/she is or isn't there. There is a big difference, my friend. After all, If it weren't for troops in our past, I wouldn't be here enjoying the luxury of sitting in my beautiful home with my beautiful family with my nice little laptop answering your question, now would I? Thanks to all the troops.... past, present and future!

Okay, imagine if your brother committed a murder, and a one of passion at that. Would you continue to love him, or would you be dense enough to believe that the only way you could love him is by not condemning his crimes?
Same with the troops. They aren't just walking guns, they're someone's brother, sister, mother, daughter, son, uncle, cousin, all that. They are loved for being humans, not for being soldiers. Do you honestly think that someone who doesn't agree with the war must inherently hate their blood, their love? Can you really tell me, honest to God that the only way you can love your blood is to love the war?

This is exactly what Dwight Eisenhower warned us about, because he saw it forthcoming. It is the Military Industrial Complex. Eisenhower stated that someday, politicians will misuse the military for their own agenda. That's exactly what is happening now.
Opposing a questionable agenda doesn't equate with opposing the troops who are misused by those in power for the pursuit of that agenda.

Can you love the sinner but hate the sin?
You love firemen but hate the fire right?
Soldiers do not "love" war but they do fight it and spend all their time preparing for it should it be deemed neccessary. Most people who say they support the troops would rather have them play a defensive role like we did in ww2. It's idealistic but hopelessly naive. When it comes to terrorism we have been reactive for too long we must be proactive.

Ask Bill Arkin.
They don't support the troops look how what they call them.
terrorist, dumb, cold blooded murders, Nazis, Pol Pot, etc
Those come from our elected officals.
Bill Arkin call them guns for hire and the media ingores them expect Fox.
However, if there a case like Abu Grabi again that will be #1 story for months.
A beheading 24 hours.
That is kind of support.
Casey Shehan supported the war. His mother takes a dump on that memory everytime she opens her mouth.
For when you say Shehan who do you think of first. Casey the man who die and reup to go back when he didn't have to or the mother going around the world preaching the evils of Bush.

It sounds to me as though you are equating the troops with criminals, and the war with a crime. I think you blew it.
