The answer is usually when you are ready but if you choose to adopt I would say look around your local area for an adoption/shelter agency and in the spring/summer is when they have the most kittens! You could also call your local animal control officer to see when they have an influx in kittens.

There really isn't a best time of year. It depends on when you are going to have some quality time to spend with the kitten as he gets used to you and your household. Moving into a new home can be a very traumatic experience for some cats. So they will need attention.

And if you are bringing in the kitten into a household that already has other pets... don't forget to spend extra time with them as well.

So the best time is when you have time.

Spring/early summer is when you'll find an overabundance of kittens. I'd suggest getting one from someone that has a box of free kittens. Most likely the ones that aren't given away will be turned outside and that sadly just perpetuates the cycle.

Now would be a good time. You won't be able to let them out until they've had their vaccinations, and preferably not before they've been neutered, so if you get them now then all that will be over by the summer. What a great time to be a kitten!

Kittens are being born now thru April/May and will soon be available for adoption - usually 6-8 weeks. There will be many many for you to choose from if you wait just a few weeks.

Not especially, but you might want to plan it when you are going to be at home for a week to get them used to you and your home. Visit your local Cat's Protection who will give you advise and assess your suitability for one or two of their homeless kittens. You will be asked to make a donation to their charity.
