...and thus he can see if we have been truly good or truly bad. Some Christians might still be sent to Hell because they were really bad even though they believed in God, yet you notice that the vice-versa can't be true? What I'm saying is why can't an Atheist who has lived by the morals of the church his whole life but simply doesn't believe in God be sent to Heaven? As a great man once said:

"And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence."

If Atheist could go to heaven, there would be no reason to believe in God. They dont want that because the church business and religion would die out

Trying to get a ticket to heaven is the wrong reason for being good. That's not being good. That's trying to get a good deal

Truly good people be good and dont worry about the hell and heaven thing

Two part answer.

1. None can reach God except through Jesus Christ.

2. All people will have a chance to truly accept or deny Christ at some time. You may be atheist now, but there will come a time when you and all atheists will know that God exists and at some point you will have to make a choice. Jesus said it is better to choose through faith rather than to choose after the knowledge (proof) is given.

Nobody can condemn someone to hell because they don't believe in God but the bible does say you are foolish to not believe. God does look at a person's heart and he judges perfectly and fairly depending on a person's circumstances. All I know is that Jesus is the only way to get into Heaven so it would be best to go ahead and acknowledge him while you're alive and get to know him. He will forgive your sins if you just ask and try to live life like he says to live it.

As for that quote, just imagine if you created this whole world and made conditions just right so people could live there and you give them life and they say you are not even real when you care for them everyday. It would be a slap in the face to you. God is very jealous and he commands to be #1 in everyone's life.

Have you been to Ripley's Believe It or Not? There is a section with various tombstones.... One that stands out is "Here lies an atheist... all dressed up and nowhere to go."

Anyway. The reason that an Atheist who has lived by the morals of the church his WHOLE life can't be sent to heaven... is because he doesn't believe it exists in the first place... therefore he won't be accepted into the gates...

ironic huh?

Christianity dogma requires that there is faith in Jesus Christ as a savior in order to be accepted into Heaven. This is a requirement that has emphasis throughout the New Testament and as such us Atheists are considered to be destined for a Hell.

Because the basis of whether one goes to Heaven or not is faith and obedience to Jesus Christ; it is taken for granted that none are truly good, because of original sin. No one completely lives by the morals of the church either; everyone has sinful thoughts, and that counts, so the basis is whether you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins. If you do, they are forgiven, and the Kingdom of Heaven is yours. I'm not saying we shouldn't TRY to live a Godly life, but no one truly can.And to serin7300, that's why they call it FAITH.

God doesn't exist.

Christianity, like most religions, uses Heaven and Hell as a type of emotional manipulation to get and keep converts. They set up impossible rules to follow so you'll feel guilty about breaking them and fearful about punishment. They also try to shame you into repenting those sins, so you'll feel that you are scum without "God's grace". It's part of the mind game.

In fact, people are generally good. It is silly to think that a god is up there keeping tabs on wether people are lying or masturbating or thinking about their neighbor's spouse, then giving the death sentence equally for all infractions. Such a being would be very petty and childish for such a supreme being.

Many who profess to be Chrisitans will not be there at the end. That's in the Bible. But the unbeliever cannot because he has denied God.

If you think it is unlikely that God exists, why do you spend all your time, day after day, in the R&S room, asking questions? Either you're searching or you're here to cause trouble and ridicule others. If the former, you'll find Him if you ask with sincerity. If the latter, is that supposed to be the good act, good morals that gets you to heaven?

Heaven is going to be homestead to anybody that different than God's plan of Salvation. you will discover Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus there. The Bible tells us that's the prefer of God that no person shall perish and that each and all of us will come to the saving wisdom of Jesus Christ. you would be shocked who will different than Jesus while your mortality flashes in the previous your eyes. subsequently we pontificate the Gospel to all of us .....

In the UK we have a course known as 'Alpha' which tries to teach christianity in the simplest terms, whilst still unfortunately proseletising. I gave up after the first couple of sessions because, whilst i am a druid, I still knew everything that they were teaching. And the one thing they taught that i still took home with me, was when they said "You don't have to ask for forgiveness of your sins whilst you're still alive, even if it is good christian practice. However, you also can't get into heaven unless you surrender yourself to the Holy Spirit, so that your sins can be forgiven. If you don't believe in the Holy Spirit, then Jesus cannot acknowledge you and cannot forgive your sins."

I thought about this for a while. I even did a sermon in my local Unitarian Church on the Holy Spirit - ironic, huh? But when it came down to asking for forgiveness of my sins? Well, I took myself into prayer one evening, and i looked to Jesus, and i sincerelly acknowledged him and his existence, even if i'm not one of his followers. And I said I've been told to ask him to forgive my sins... and then i just said i'd rather something else.... i'd rather he just do his best to end abuse in the world.

Perhaps it's something to think about, ya know? Technically what i've done makes me a 'believer', but i'm still not a 'christian'. But at the same time, I feel i've made a sacrifice. I'm not gonna be all big headed about it, because i know everyone's opinion on it would be different. Many a christian would say i'm still going to hell. But I know that for every chance i get for having my sins forgiven, i'd rather surrender *that* for the sake of asking *any* higher power to end abuse in all its forms in this world.

A baptist friend of mine tells me "You can't put God on a couch and ask him to tell you about what's going on in his head". But i say that whoever or whatever willed this world of ours into existence probably does need some perspective on it all. After all, if our own race managed to create different religions and world-views that can't accept each other - don't WE need perspective as well?
