Yup, because before prayers we have to cleanse ourselves with water. With tattoos the water is not able to pass through the little pores on our skin so therefore we are not able to perform our prayers. Apart from that, it is also for hygiene reasons...some of the needles used are not sterilised properly and we have heard cases where diseases are spread through unclean needles so yup.

I was amused to find that the only one to answer the question was Mlaheji.

All others cited from their bible.

Has anyone stopped to realize that Muslims don't consult the bible, rather the Qu'ran?

If Muslims need guidance as to whether or not Allah says they can don tattoos, they can certainly refer to their own holy book, rather than any Christian to look upon the bible for guidance.

I had to chuckle at that one!

Yes , believe me it is true but the Muslims are not listening to their relegion , like the older generation , any more. For example , it is not allowed in Islam for the women to travel for more than 3 days without there husbands or with fathers or responsible adults, but the majority of the girls travel for several monthes alone and about more than 5% of them do unrelegious habits. Please i beg you to believe me because i know the Islamic relegion and i am a non-strict Muslim but a well behaved and can do whatever i want even it is not allowed in the relegion for my benefit but i don't do misbehavings. i sometimes feal thet there are meaningless rules in the Islam , however , i used to have tattoos like all the Muslim people but i don't care about style because i like learning.

Not quite sure about muslims and their book but I know what the KJV Holy Bible says:

Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Yes.

1. Youre not allowed to hurt your body or permanently brand it like cattle do, for any reason. Beauty? not even an excuse.

2. Youre not allowed to imitate people who know no better.

3. You should abhor anything that is unnatural and live to recognize the beauty in which the Creator made you.

Yes it is true. in Islam harming your own body is a great sin.

It says in Quran that muslims are not allowed to harm their own bodies.
So Smoking (Ciggarettes or drugs), Tattoos and anything else that harms the body is considered a great sin.

makes you wonder about the suicide bombers!!!

No Tattoos for you son, but go ahead and blow yourself up!

Yes because you are altering the body. The human body was made by ALLAH and is therefore perfect. It shouldn't be altered by tattoos or body earrings.

For some it is and for some it is not. They cannot hurt their bodies because god gave them their body. Like smoking, some popel sya it harms the body and they do not, but others do because they do not view it was hurting the body. ITs like any other religion, some people chose to beleive in certin accpetcs, and others do not.

(Leviticus 19:28) God says, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD."

It's true if they heed the word of God. But many people who claim to fail to actually do so.
