I have been offered a station at Misawa, Japan A.F.B. Has anyone ever been there? What can you tell me about it? I can still decline and ask for another offer stateside(USA) they told me. But, would I be passing up a great opportunity? I need advise!!!

if you like snow, you will be fine. the Navy mission up there is sweet, not sure what the AF mission is like. probably something similar to the Navy contingent's.

The area is beautiful, and the opportunity to experience Japanese culture shouldn't be discounted either.

I was stationed in Misawa. It's a great base. Has a ski hill and a nice golf course and a bay. The country side is beautiful (lake Tawada is a must) The locals are warm and friendly. I didn't want to be stationed in Japan, but was so fortunate to be stationed in Misawa. Don't be alarmed when the issue you a parka and mukluks in June. You'll need them. p.s. word to the wise, watch out for the benjo ditches

Enjoy it, it will be one of your favorite assignments.

Go...its cold there in the winter...but you will enjoy the experience!
