I hate the smell of beer and can't stand carbonated fruit drinks. What kind of mixed drink should I try?

There are sooo many, here are a few:
Try:
cranberry and vodka,
Margaretta
Bloody Mary
Fuzzy Navel
Mojito
Strawberry Daiquiri
Lolipop
Buttery Nipple
Ask the bartender as well, they should be able to come up with something to your liking.
Red wine could be strong at first...but is one of my drinks of choice, especially with certain foods.

Here are a couple that I like, I turned 21 not too long ago too:
Jaeger Bomb (it is a drop shot, you have a glass of Red Bull and drop a shot of Jager in the glass then chug it down)
Jack and Coke
Crown and Coke
Amaretto Sour (Amaretto and Sweet and Sour Mix, Amaretto is pretty good by itself)
Vanilla Vodka and coke takes like a vanilla coke
Red Snapper
Qualudes
Flaming Dr. Pepper's (if made right these really taste like Dr. Pepper)
Buttery Nipples
Seven and Seven with a little bit of lime (Seven up and Seagram's Seven)
There is a thing called a Stop Light that I took on my 21st and I was gone after that one, I'm not sure what was in it, but it was three shots stacked up on each other the top was red, the middle was yellow, and the bottom was green. You just do shot after shot until you take all three of them!! Happy Birthday, Have fun and make sure you have a DD!!

What are you trying to achieve?
If you're just looking to get a buzz, go for a vodka and soda combo. Or simply grab the first cheap thing you find. Actually, there are some flavored beers that don't have the horrid beer smell, seriously. The Smirnoff Twists are an example.
If, like me, you wish to enjoy alcohol for the sake of flavor and variety, then I suggest becoming educated in the various kinds of drinks and the best way to serve them. Check out my sources for basic to complex info..

Thanks for asking here in stead of when you're standing at a busy bar(that will anger the bartenders and bartenders are gods) Try drinking one of the many flavored vodkas or rums and mix it with something simple like sprite or if you're a bit more daring and have a long night ahead of you, red bull. A lot of people will tell you a bunch of drinks with juice and nonsense. You'll look like less of a rookie if you avoid these

Let me tell you from experience and most of my friends turning 21 right now. This sounds gross but the shots are called buttery nipples and they taste like candy. Redbull vodka is an excellent get messed up drink and tastes wonderful too but be warned..limit it to 2 because this causes a severe hangover and the caffeine can cause major problems..have fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HON.. i just turned 21 last aug!! some of my favorite mixed drinks are Long Islands... there's a few different kinds of Vodka in it.. and it tastes great.. and it can really get u buzzed off of just 1.. i also like adios those are really good... plus the blue color is an additional bonus! ;-) my other favorite which i don't remember the name but it tasted like Hawaiian Punch... u cant taste the alcohol at all and it tastes GREAT! i love that drink.. just ask the bartender they will tell u.. and i also like shots.. one called stripper on acid is soooooo potent u will get ****** up for sure... just don't mix all those together.. lol o yea and hurricane's are really yummy too!... be safe tonite hon!....

I'd go with a Long Island Iced Tea. Very boozy and you can't taste the booze if they make it right. There's only a splash of soda in it and you can't tell it's in there, it's only there for color.
