I notice that each experience has to do with christians... is their god the only god imaginable?

taking this to a different tangent > You may want to ask your self, "Self, what is God."

who is god is not really the issue. When looking at the bible one could notice that it is a book written by people. It is a book written about people's experiences. In my opinion many of the followers take it too literally. I wonder why it hasn't been thought of more metaphorically. for example, the bible rants about hell and hell is where we go after life when we do wrong. my interpretation of that is more ecletic. (taking from things like karma) Metaphorically, if we look at the LIFE of an action and it's concequence we can see that if we do good, then good will happen. and the obvious opposite aswell. . .

so, that doen't answer 'what is god".. why is god looked at as a being... why not a process? this omnipresent thing (god), if in all places at all times, must be in both material and idea. so, the god as a process theory concludes that in material 'god' (call it whatever you want) is everything.

every atom (string, if you want to get into the theory of the smallest thing) ... every atom is connected ... the air to the screen...my foot touching my sock touching my shoe touching the floor touching the earth touching some veluptious maiden 1000 miles away who tosses her skirt onto a dusty talbe causing the particles of dust to scatter like the start in space... (ect...) these material devices are so tightly knit beyond our capasity of understanding... .

.. god as an idea...an idea cannot be held or touched... it is something the exists beyond material... numbers and words are ideas... you cannot hold the number 3... you can hold 3 apples, but not the number... another idea example is the process of knowing what to do when... how does it happen?... modern knowledge can tell you that based on certain chemicals passing over certain regions of certain neural connections (variable after variable later...) you make a thought and have an idea... a notion... an understanding... this is done in a process... this process is caused by material things...

anyway... YES. religion is destroying the world. but, do not think that there is nothing to be learned from it.. as i said before, look at the bible as a metaphore... you'll get more.

This is exactly why I don't attend church anymore. I have a strong belief in God. Most "Christians" are so intrenched in what their rules and regulations through the church are that they have no room for anyone elses beliefs. I have a good friend from Ghana. They have a different religion from most people in my area. But she is 100% behind her faith and truly enjoys it. Someone looked right at her and said, You're wrong and if you don't convert, you will burn in hell. She is the kindest, sweetest person you will ever meet. How dare that women use the name of God and religion to condem someone! Why did I quit attending church? I left for college, full time schooling and working full time. What did my church send me? Not a congratulation letter or an offer of help, my envelopes so that I can continue sending them my money. I volunteer my time and give to specific charities but that wasn't good enough. Is my faith shaken? Never. My belief if the so called christians and other bible beating religious people YES! - I keep my faith to myself so that I'm not roped into that catagory. As for you being a non-beliver - are you a decent human being - that's good enough for me and you better believe that it's good enough for God. If he wanted us to be robots, he would have made us out of metal. Hey thanks for the chance to vent - I feel so much better now!

People in all walks of life suffer from mental illnesses or obsessive/compulsive disorders. The belief in God does not cause mental illness. Any suggestion that it does reflects back on your own character.

After re-reading your post, it's clear you made the whole thing up. I lived as a non-Christian for many, many years, and nobody has all those events happen to them. It's a fiction. Maybe you're confusing it with the Hare Krishna people from the airports in the '60s.

Belief in "God" is already a species of insanity; it's just more socially acceptable than belief in gremlins, or unicorns, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Having said that, I don't consider myself an "atheist." I prefer "pantheist," with everybody as the unique and sovereign God of his own unique universe. This is demonstrably true, by the way - "The Universe" is definable as the sum total of any given person's knowledge, relative to his own perspective.

It's called parinoia. There is nothing you can do or say to please a parinoid. If you could, by definition, you would have cured them.

I have an X-friend who's just like that. God evidently gave him "permission" to interfere in my mom's estate. The reasoning, basically, is that I' m the evil one. So he deserves her money more than her own son. Some people can use God to justify whatever selfish thing they want. Look at the crusades.

To me, forcing others to belief in a religion is wrong. Preaching is allowed but to force others to share the same views about religion is not right. It's like saying to ur kids that cat has 5 legs (to those who may not know, a cat has 4 legs. Lolz ~) & forcing them to believe that, even when their teachers & friends & Google told them otherwise. C'mon !

The Christian slant is your attention because it gives them (and you) a point of focus.
There are crazy cat people, and crazy vegetarian people. If you wanted to focus on a group of people with specific beliefs, pick sports, or religion. You'll find lots of nuts there too.

There are a lot of crazy (irrational) people in this world, but I do not think it is their belief in God that causes their behavior, condition or mental state.
