I agree. It's a well known fact that with age things like reflexes, hearing and vision deteriorate. Some folks more than others. This is not an issue of increasing insurance rates for certain age groups but eliminating dangerous drivers. I'm 24 years old and am more than willing to submit to a driving test every 6 months.

Insurance companies who have an interest in such things do charge a certain group more based on the fact they are generally bad drivers and have more than their share of both tickets and accidents.

Of course that age group is 15 to 24, not over 65.

To make it fair, I would suggest anyone, regardless of age, with more than 3 minor or 1 major ticket, or an at fault accident that caused death or bodily injury should be tested.

Oklatom is incorrect about the rates. They do charge more for a young driver and the rates will start to increase again when you hit a certain age. It is going to vary from company to company but it usually starts increasing around age 65-70. The rate increase is not that dramatic and most people don't even think about it but there is a rate increase

I think when old folks have an accident everybody makes a big thing of it.

Fact is, young male drivers kill 100 people for every old geezer that runs over somebody.

So what would you propose to fix this?

Some states have had this policy for years - California, for instance. I personally think that it's a good idea.
