I have a very long list in Excel, and I want that the first row, that is the head of the list, to remain fix, when I scroll down the list. How can I do that?

Open the file and select the next row which portion you want to freeze, click on the Windows tab on the tool bar and select "freeze". You are done. This will freeze the row. Make sure to save after you make this change. Now whenever you open this file you will find top row stand still even if you scroll down.
When you want to remove this freeze, again click on windows tab and click on unfreeze.

Scroll to the first row under your headings.

Click on Window in the toolbar.

Click on Freeze Panes.

As previous posters mentioned, you can use Window->Freeze Panes, or Window->Split. But first, since you only want the first row to stay fixed, you should select the entire 2nd row first (it will also work the same if you select cell A2 first).

choose split from the window menu. you'll get horizontal and vertical frame-indicators you can slide into place to keep a row(s) or column(s) visible while the data-portion moves. If you choose window \ freeze, these indicators will become fixed. Unfreeze them to reposition.

as mentioned above, use freeze panes or split screen. either will work for your situation...
