I just turned 20 and I've always had straight hair. I've curled it from time to time and I've always liked it when I did it, but it can take a while to do it and doesn't last. Should I get a perm?

go for it...it's fun to have something different...I tried it once and it was fun! You're straight hair will return...so what is there to lose?

It was fun to have a different texture...plus I didn't have to do as much for it to look nice...

have fun! Make sure you do the big curls though.....

NO!!!! Stay away from perms, they severely damage your hair. I have natural wavy hair. It's that hair that's right in the middle of being curly and looking good or being straight and looking good.. so it looks like crap. The great thing is, when I want it straight, I flat-iron it, if I want curly I use a curling iron. By using these 2 tools I am able to go from one extreme to the next. With perms you can't do that. They last quite a while, so if you want to wear your hair straight (which is in style these days) you have trouble doing it. I say, stick with the hot hair tools!

You should consider if you are willing to deal with your hair always being really straight. You can do a lot more with permed or straightened hair and you can cut it into different styles that would be very appealing for a 20 year old. But, all in all i think perms are nice to have. they are nice change but be careful who you let do it.

If curly hair is what you want. It'll grow out.
I got a perm years ago because my hair was pin straight. Now it's wavy and most of the time I want it to be straight. Although, it is nice to not have to curl my hair when I want wave.

well take it from a girl who knows something about a perm. well it's really easy to take care of but it starts to become a hassle I've had my perm for about a year. but i wished that i would have kept it the same way i had it from when i was little. if i was you i would not but it's not me so if you want to get it done go for it I'm not trying to stop you or nothing well if you get it done i really hope you like it.

No, honey, right when you think you like your curly hair, you'll start to hate it when you get frizz and unmanagable curls and just aren't able to get out of the shower blow dry your hair and GO!

My sister got one when she was a little younger and she turned out hating it. It looked nice but then after a while she just ended up straightening it constantly and said it drove her crazy. She said she'd never get another one again.
