This is a country who has never attacked us, never threatened to attack us, or never killed a single american BEFORE we invaded them. They say we are trying to free iraq, but they have never asked for our help. The soldiers killed more iraqis then Hussein ever did. if Iraq really wanted Suddam dead they would have killed him themselves. Technically this is not a war, A war is when both sides agree to fight. iraq never agreed to fight wih us, they never wanted too fight us. If we wanted to free a country why not sudan, why iraq. there are no nuclear weapons. Why does it have to be iraq. Not only have thousands of U.S. soldiers have died but innocent children, women, and men have died too.

First of all, I want to be clear that I DO NOT SUPPORT THE WAR. But, I do SUPPORT the TROOPS. It's not their fault that they have to fight in this war. Their families are suffering the most, while Bush & Chaney are making huge profits off of oil.
***Remember, Bush's father is an oil man and so is Dick Chaney. No I do believe Saddem Hussein was a cruel man, who treated his people horribly. However, it is not our place to tell him what to do, on his land. If his people did not like his style of government, than they should have overthrown him. Much like America did do the British.
Unfortunately, this is a political war, that we are fighting and many people will continue to loose their lives, because of a business deal that went bad between Bush Sr. and the Middle East.
***Remember Oliver North & the Iran Contra Scandal. He was accused of supplying weapons to the Middle East. Who were his bosses??? The President (Ronald Regan) & Vice President (George Bush Sr.). That's how Iraq got its weapons.
Also, Colin Powell was on national TV and admitted that he and the entire country were mislead when they were told that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. He further stated that he was acting on information given to him by his boss. It doesn't take a rocket science to understand that Colin Powell answers to Bush & Chaney.
The bottom line is that Bush & Chaney are making a profit (oil companies too) but at the expense of the lives of our troops. Note: Exxon Mobile broke the record for highest profit within a year at $46billion in 2006. What a coincidence that it was during this war.
If you haven't already, check out the movie Fahrenheit 911, it is an eye opener and during the movie the narrator quotes his sources. I have verified many of them. There is a lot about Bush the American public should know and I bet most rational thinking people would not support the war of they knew the truth.

Sadam Hussein was a horrific citizen of the planet. The whole reason for the war was to remove him from power. He waged a decade-long war against Iran, gassed/killed thousands of his own people, invaded neighboring Kuwait, looted that country, murdered Kuwait citizens, lobbed scud missiles into non-participant Israel during the first Gulf war, and torched oil rigs into the terrible ecological disaster during his retreat back to Bagdad. I can not imagine *why* the UN permitted him to stay in office after the first Gulf war.
The Iraqui citizens had no way to remove him from power... the elections there were an absolute joke and any opposition to him met the ultimate penalty.
I am not a fan of what is happening in Iraq today, but removing Sadam Hussein was the right thing to do. I'm certain that the US troops would leave if the citizens of Iraq stopped blowing each other up and quit attacking US troops. But perhaps it is easier for Islamic militants to wage war on the US by using those tactics to keep US troops within easy range?
These are not happy days.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Look at the time line. JAN 79...Shah of Iran over thrown, JUL 79....Saddam takes power in Iraq. Nov 79....Hostages taken in Iran. Dec 79..USSR invades Afghanistan. Summer 1980 Iraq attacks Iran. The USA helped Iraq as a means of getting back at Iran. But we really did not want Iraq to win either so we secretly helped Iran. (Believe it or not, Israel helped Iran also.) By supporting both sides, the war dragged on for 8 years and neither had the ability to cause problems elsewhere.. Once the war ended, they started meddling in other nations. What we should have done is give each one a nuke and the ability to deliver it to the capital city of the other. Think how many problems that would have solved.

First, let me say that I DO NOT support the war in Iraq. This is not to say however that I do not support the men and women there, but that's another story.
That being said, from a political standpoint, you are wrong an a lot of counts.
Saddam Hussein had killed, raped, or tortured tens of thousands of his own countrymen, women, and children in the name of dictatorship. Since the commencement of this operation, only 7,000 nationals have died in Iraq...and most of those at the hands of militants, not the US (or other foreign) government.
"President" Hussein committed terrible atrocities against MANY people, not only his own. To further his push for power, he also helped to support and defend the very terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on American soil. So yes, Iraq DID attack in a manner of speaking.
Now that Hussein has been ousted from power, and an interim government is seated, the country needs to find a way to support itself. However, because of 30+ years of poor leadership on the part of Hussein, this government doesn't have the resources or direction to do so. That is why the US is still there.
And war is not an "agreement" between conflicting parties. Think back to WWII. The United States did NOT engage Japan in conflict. In fact, the US wanted NOTHING to do with the conflict and was subsequently drawn into the war because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and killed hundreds of US soldiers in their beds. That wasn't an agreement, but it WAS an act of aggression perpetrated upon an innocent bystander.
Get your facts straight before you start making inflammatory political statements.
Yes, the US should be out of Iraq, but since we're there, we may as well try to do SOME good.

It’s not what Iraq did to us. That’s like saying “what did Germany do to us? It was Japan who attacked us”
Iraq, by which I mean Saddam choose to rule by fear and terror, so when he choose that he threw his lot in with all sadistic murderers, oppressors and threats to world peace . Saddam was one his history’s worst butchers. He maimed and killed untold numbers of people at his whim. If you think that we should sit by and let that happen, you’re no better than Saddam or his sick sons were. As for the Iraqi people, the reason they hate us is because the terrorist are able to convince them that we, the USA, are the cause of their country’s collapse; the logic is tailor fit to the layman of Iraq. Before USA, didn’t see any killings or car bombs, after USA it happens on a daily basis. The terrorists leave out the little bit of info that they are the ones detonating the car bombs and killing the people of Iraq. If you think it is OK to sit by and let these murderers continue to kill and we should just give up, you don’t deserve the freedoms that were given to you by people who were willing to fight for them so you could be free. So, in my defense of the war, I would like to invoke the help of an unlikely ally, MLK. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”

Iraq not only attacked the U.S. on 9/11 but they attacked the U.K. just after. We are not trying to kill all of them off, we are simply trying to eliminate the bad ones, the Islamic radicals because if we dont, we will have another 9/11 or worse on our hands!
And compared to all the people who died in World War 2, nobody has died in this war. there were like 25, 00 people killed in 3 days in World War 2, the whole time we have been in Iraq there has only been wat? like 3,00 deaths. THINK ABOUT IT!

You are right.
Should we have waited until Iraq did something.
We did wait and got 9/11. Yes I know Iraq wasn't connected to 9/11.
Saddam was funding sucide bombers and the like.
Before you weep for the innocent one in Iraq make sure you know who is doing the majority of killing.
Iraqi civilians killed last year by ISLAMIC Terrorists 16,791
Iraqi civilians killed collaterally in incidents involving Americans
(and Islamic Terrorists) 225*
Iraqis aren't dying from war. They are being murdered by
Islamic terrorists.

You need to get a grip that this war on Muslim terrorist is not all about bin laden but countries that support them too.

you know, I wrote a huge answer to this question, but then I realized you're not going to read it anyway, and even if you did you'd probably just dismiss it as the ideals of some war crazed person. This country's ignorance amazes me, we all complain when we should get our facts straight and only then present an argument (myself included).
Good luck with that. I'll join you.

It is all about the oil and the resources. That bunch of thugs in Washington cooked up a bunch of lies and presented them as facts as our "reason" for invading Iraq. Those who went along with it should be impeached, right along with Bush, Cheney, Rummy and the rest. The "thinking" population of America never believed it; the thinking population keeps up with what's going on in the world, they read, discuss, listen. Unfortunately, those who "govern" us are too busy being self-important to pay much attention. The Republicans in Washington have all consumed the "kool-aid" and the Dems that gave Bush the OK to invade should hang their heads in shame.
I am a woman of a certain age, a patriotic American, an ex-Marine and I come from a family that has served in the military on both sides since the Revolutionary War. Never in my life have I seen such apathy from the American public as I have seen with regard to this awful invasion. Never have I seen so many of my countrymen and women so involved with themselves. Never have I seen such division, such passionless ignorance.
I fear that Mr. Bush and his henchman have forever changed my country. They have divided us and I don't know if we will ever be able to come together again. In my opinion, Mr. Bush and the rest are nothing but criminals and should be tried for crimes against humanity.
