The habanero is the hottest general variety. A Scotch Bonnet is a particular strain (don't ever try to tell someone from Jamaica they are the same!!) of habanero.
They measure the heat of peppers in Scoville units.
A jalapeno comes in at 3500 units. Cayenne peppers, 35,000 units.
Habanero peppers average around 250,000 units.
There is a specific variety of habanero called the Red Savina. While it widely ranges in how hot (like most peppers), the top end of it's heat comes in at a whopping 550,000 Scoville units.

It felt like pink warm tongs squeezing on my tongue. It lasted for added or less 10 minutes then subsided. Then my stomache felt like i swallowed acid and it damage for an hour instantly. My pepper slice became caked with seeds and those are what's quite spiced interior the pepper. also the pepper in basic terms flavor's like crap, i delight in a delectable pepper yet this became nausiating.
