Pascal says: "You must wager; it is not optional... Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God exists... If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation, that He exists."
Atheist's says: "You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or you believe in god. If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent god, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him."
Homer Simpson says: "But Marge, what if we picked the wrong religion? Every week, we're just making God madder and madder!"

Pascal's wager is way too flawed. He makes the assumption that there is only the christian god and only atheism as your choices. Given that there are over 2500 known gods in our history, how can we be sure that we've chosen the right god? How can we be sure that the one true god isn't one we haven't known yet?
What if God rewards the atheist for going by the proof?
What if God is actually evil and rewards evil instead of good?
I think I've made my point there.
The Atheists wager is much more palatable to me.
I'm a pagan.. our wager is: "Do what you will.. just try not to hurt anyone in the process. And have fun while you're doing it.. the gods don't want you to be miserable."

The problem with Pascal's Wager is that Pascal assumes that the God will be the Christian trinity god. If there is a God and it is not the trinity god of Christians then in every religion other than Christianity the Christians loose. If Judaism or Islam, they have put a man before God. If any other religion they have tried to live through this "grace" and not by virtue and so they loose there too. That is the critical flaw.

"...If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind,"...>>This is definitely untrue. If someone did betters things than you, you'll be forgotten.
Another thing..
Homer Simpson says: "But Marge, what if we picked the wrong religion? Every week, we're just making God madder and madder!"
If we seek the true God, you'll surely find it. Because searching the True One God means finding the Master of your life Whom you'll give your everything, not only the God that provides everything we needs.

Do you really think this wager scares any reasonable person? maybe the simpsons, but not the rest of us.
Anyone who believes in a god because of this wager is, indeed, being taken advantage of.

I refuse to live my life by fear. I'll go with the so-called atheist's wager. If there is a just god, he would not condemn me for finding it impossible to believe incredible things. And if he's not a just god, then everyone is screwed.
Love the Simpsons quote. Love that show.

Well, what is the harm in believing in God? If an atheist is wrong and there is a God who will accept you by works then the atheist has to have earned salvation by works. How do you know if you've worked hard enough? I think you should be a follower of Christ and let Him be your Savior AND Lord and live the best life you can while trying to make the world a better place.

"Bob's" Wager wins every time! If "Bob" is right, you get eternal pleasure on the planet of the Sex Goddesses. If "Bob" is wrong, or the Xists don't attack Earth in your lifetime, then the membership kit is still worth $30. And you can keep your other gods, to hedge your bets.

The problem with the Atheist's wager is that it is his own intelligence, or lack thereof, that determines what he believes will make the world a better place. Pascal, having a guide book, knows what God, if there is one, deems as making it better.
Pascal wins again!
