It is really a matter of energy.
My belief is that God is an Idea, a philosophy. In that case he would be a result of both matter and energy, our brains are made of matter, but run on energy. God is just the exhaust.

All matter, is comprised of energy when you really think about it. I knew this all my life.
We being created - are lesser gods. Just as there is greater energy and lesser energy (enmasse). Even God is attributed in the Bible as saying, "ye are gods" but goes on to point out we die as mere men. The simplistic modern slang equivalent would be, "I'm superior to you, and don't you forget it".
The fallen angels forgot that fact and paid the penalty. Jesus kept referencing "faith" which translates to "trust".., a relinquishing of limiting negative thought. The blind were made to see, the lame and amputees were healed, Jesus walked on water and so much more.
The Apostle Philip was transported from one location to another some two days ride away in the blink of an eye. There are sub-laws that surge through out our lives we humans are arrogant and consider the Biblical accounts as fallacy because of the "faith" issue, equating it to primitive thinking.
I find the Bible in many instances concerning spirituality as superior to NASA's best science. Its just nobody fully understands the principles involved - except the rules. We are clearly given rules and if we don't go by the rules, we cant expect advancement..

Fascinating question, I'd say energy and spirit are the same thing. Spirit theologically is the same as 'life' as in the activating force within living things. There's the whole Eve/spirit connection too ('Eve' means life, is called mother of the living/spirit is female in Hebrew). God created duality from one, matter is not all there is, spirit isn't seperate from matter
God is held to be pure spirit outside matter but I think God is within matter also, since he must have made it from himself otherwise there was something else pre-existing for him to work with which is impossible if God is all there is
This is the emanationist theory, that matter is the physical form of God while spirit is his core essense. It seeks to explain things by overcoming the apparant duality between matter and spirit

God said "You are made in my image." and Christ was sent into the flesh to become a living example, a rabbi, a teacher an ascended master who overcame the limitations and hindrances of the flesh and temptations against the spirit, who taught and explained the conditions of the spirit as a result of the influences of the flesh upon it, around it and through it.
Chopra's Quantum Physics (I'm reading it now actually) is an excellent book to read to better describe what you are asking. It is amazing... When man uses his intellect and his wisdom to discover all of the possibilities and aspects of life and living, flesh and spirit and matter, closing off no possibility in arrogance or self importance... I believe it is in these moments where we are indeed... most like God.

Gods name is... "The Great I am" because He truely is... everything.

Didn't Einstein show that matter and energy are interchangeable? Maybe He's both.
As far as being subject to the laws of matter, I think being omniscient, if he was, he'd be smart enough to figure out how to overcome them. I mean, us humans in our limited way figured out how to overcome gravity with sustained flight.

God is neither matter nor energy. He is a Spirit and they that will worship him can only worship him in spirit and truth. He is too much to be comprehended by any human description

matter and energy are creations and constructs of the physical universe. God, as creator, exists outside. Therefore, the concepts of matter and energy do not apply to God.

Both matter and energy derive from a more fundamental source: perturbations in the so-called quantum vacuum or zero-point field.
God, IMHO, is the universal wavefunction deriving from the superposition of all zero-point field wavefunctions.
