i've just had to do the same thing with my two cats both female ( 2 acres to terrace) i kept them in for two weeks then let them out for an hour and increased it every day, a month on and they are fine with being outside, they had a few confrontations with other cats but stood there ground and don't get bothered by them any more.
good luck with it, just take it slowly and give them lots of love when they come in and they will be fine xx

Yes... the move will cause some stress in the cats. At any rate, you'll need to keep all your cats indoors for at least a month so that they can adjust and get used to the new environemtn of the "den." If you let them out at all after that, it will be a very very good idea to make your yard a secure place for the cats. Becuase they have been raised in the country, it is really important that you keep them safe from cars, traffic, dogs, stray cats, racoons, etc - they will not know how to cope with these things and can get themselves killed!
Two options if you don't want to keep them completely indoors: Get an big outdoor enclosure for them or put up special cat-proof fencing. These fences are designed to keep even the most ingenious cat inside your yard - but I don't know if it will prevent strays from coming inside your yard. If I were you, I'll get an outdoor enclosure. You can buy a chainlink dog kennel with the top and make that a cat enclosure. I have a big one for my 2 cats - measures 13ft long x 7ft wide x 7ft tall. I placed plastic plants and logs of driftwood and walkways, tunnels to make the place interesting for them. They love it there and I can keep my peace of mind knowing that they are safe while enjoying their daily fresh air.

Hi there
Your poor darlings will not be used to confrontation from other aggressive tom cats so the main area for concern is that your cats need to feel safe in their new envirement the answer would be to cat proof your garden if at all possible as your cats are used to going outside I think it is important for their wellbeing that they are allowed some time outside they will adjust to the smaller area fine. Good luck with your move hope it all works out for you.

The more cats in a territory the more potential for relationship problems. Especially if the cats are not sterilized.

they will make all around your new house their territory so they could end up with just as much space that they call their own..you may have to watch for them trying to get back to your old place so keep them in for a bit till they settle with the house your going to then slowly let them wander round the place outside with you present.they probably will have fights with other cats as they will already have their territory that your cats will be invading.good luck.

it is not a good idea to do that because they might think that the other cats are predators and might try to attack them and get into a fight and get hurt believe me I didd that once, cat go hurt really bad.

once you're in hardship-free words 5 homes away, you're nonetheless in all their territory. purely positioned the nutrition bowl out and a water bowl next to it and they're going to discover you. it ought to take some days, yet they're going to understand.
