God is totally a commodity, the church provides a service to their members who pay huge amounts of money to have. Without the invention of God, the church would not be the largest business on the planet, nor the largest land owner, nor the largest owners of art or precious metals, etc. Has anyone else ever looked at the financial statements from any of the diocese of any religion? The amount of assets and their net profit per year are disgustingly massive. When are people going to open their eyes and realize that this is a brainwashing cult and it is the largest business on the planet. The church should have to pay taxes. So the answer is yes, God is a commodity as the churches put up these locations for people to come and give their money and be brainwashed to continue to come back the next week to give more money. And if they do not come back to church, they are brainwashed into thinking that God will send them to hell. So they really have no choice, because the church blackmails them into coming to church, by threatening them with eternal damnation. What a business, I wonder where I could start a business like that, which also is free from taxes.

God is a commodity in that the version the most people believe in becomes more valuable and main stream. Look at the conversations that people try to have about God's race or gender. More people believe God is a He, white, and bearded with flowing white hair. Any merchant is going to sell more of that than any other version.

You buy gods teachings and then sell them. Isn’t that how religion spread? God is a commodity, whereas religion is an industry.

God has become packaged in so many different ways it isn't funny. It makes me angry.
People that want to sell a book, fill their seminar hall, line their pockets, etc. come up with all manner of selling points.
God will make you succeed in business!
God will help you lose weight!
God will cure your ailments!
God will.....
He didn't come for any other reason than to take our sins. He came to die, for this purpose.
And these charlatans have used God for their own gain. Most, to build their own ministry. They have it completely backwards... They do not wish to SERVE god, but they want instead to be SERVED by God!
This is one way to spot a fraud. Does God do things for us? Yes, but THAT isn't the primary focus.
I could scream at all the rampant materialism that has infected His church.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit. It's a sore point with me.
