Because countries like America and Israel and France, etc. don't have as their standing policy a pledge to wipe entire nations from the earth.

Like albinos, they only use their powers for good.

The countries that have nuclear weapons include but are not limited to.... N. Korea, Russia, The U.S, France, Urkraine, Czech Republic, Britain, Israel, Some other Balken States, Pakistan (maybe), India (maybe). The united states did not sign the non proflication treaty when they created it. To say that these countries are using it for purely defensive reasons is asanine as the US used it against Japan in a purely offensive strike, the war was over for the majority of reasons and to do this was just to show an example of the U.S. Strengths.

When the Former Soviet Union Disbanded most of the storage of Nukes were in the Balken States and so they continued to have Nuclear weapons until later.

Switzerland, and Sweden were actually two of the first countries ever to have nuclear weapons but have since removed the program as there was no need. This also goes for Israel, they might have HAD them and they might HAVE the technology to create them but as of right now they are not producing nuclear technology

It is in America's nature to arrogate to itself the right to do anything it considers democratic, moral and can contribute to global well-being, including the absolute privilege to manufacture and store a huge arsenal of WMDs, mainly nuclear and biological weapons.

As to why Israel is "allowed," the simple reason is that this country is the only one that America may consider a true friend and ally. It is to a large extent a symbiotic relationship in that America needs Israel as a watch dog in the Miiddle and West Asia and likewise, Israel cannot do without Amemrica's global clout and weapons lifelines.

Another very important consideration is that a good percentage of the American economy is in the hands of Jews or those totally sympatetic to the Israeli cause. This group is a very powerful lobby and can sway or even control the direction of the US government and its policies.

However, America and Israel (though it never openly admits the fact) are not the only nuclear power. Others include France, Russia, China, to name a few. Others who have lately 'joined' are India and Pakistan while still others have clearly shown their nuclear capability including North Korea, Iran and given half the chance (and looks likely to get it too) will be Japan, the only country that has tasted nuclear warfare.

By far though, America is the most powerful and has the most humongous nuclear arsenal. Countries not considered friendly are constantly being pressured and threatened to cease and desist in developing nuclear weapons. On the other hand, countries which America now (emphasis is NOW) needs to further its military and economic objectives are tolerated and even given help to improve their nuclear pursuits. China, India and Pakistan are examples although America would never assit China but cannot do without China for trade.

The belief that only America and its nuclear friends are responsible enough not to indiscriminately detonate a nuclear bomb is a fallacy, likewise that undemocratic countries or countries ruled by fanatics are more likely to act irresponsibly.
This belief begs the question of who finally is the arbiter and why would any country invite nuclear annihilation on itself?

Nc country is more ready and able to deliver a nuclear bomb than the USA . However, a likely scenario is that in the unlikely event that a country is attacked, retaliation in kind is an absolute. So MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) is guaranteed although the degree of destruction obviously would be different. In this context, Iran would be better able to sustain say a million casualties while even 4000 in the USA might be considered too many!

In truth, the fact that America is the most powerful does not guarantee it against a possible nuclear holocaust unless its leaders are insane enough to absolutely wipe out all of its perceived threats now. This may yet act out with America's propensity to entrust its global relationship policies to cranks and crazies with their pertinacity of America's right, might and moral high ground. America's inept, inane and insane poliiticians and policies may yet be the country's undoing.

About time America joined the world community and accept that others can and will be different and that not every country sees everything the American way nor accept that the so-called democracy, human rights and freedom America forever preaches is others' cup of tea. After all even the mighty preacher (America) can seldom practise all the ideals it so vehemently advocates that other adopt.

If America continues to refuse to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it has scant moral ground to decry or condemn others from pursuing their nuclear ambition. Other lesser countries which perceive America as their biggest threat have every right to create their own protection. So why not produce a nuclear bomb? If the world as we know it today is to be destroyed, America may yet rue the day it developed the nuclear bomb.

To start with you are lying when you say only America and Israel have nuclear weapons. I'm accusing you of lying instead of just being mistaken because you point at the USA and Israel and ignore the fact that many other countries have nuclear weapons, including France, the UK, Russia, India, and Pakistan. My guess is you are an islamofascist who wants Iran to get nuclear weapons and you are hoping Iran uses them against Israel and the United States.
As for your laughable assertion that only the USA and Israel do not respect human life, what a joke that is. Ever seen one of Zarcowardly's beheading videos? How respectful was your islamofascists friend of the human life of tied up hostages who were in no way harming or even trying to harm him. Remember Margaret Hassan, who was feeding Iraqi children until your islamofasfcist friends murdered her?

First, most countries in the world are signatories to the Non-Proliferation treaties, which includes the non-nuclear countries not pursuing nuclear weapons.

I'm not sure why you single out the US and Israel, except that it denotes a certain bias on your part. Why haven't you included China, Russia, Britain, France, India, Pakistan, and some of the former Soviet republics which may still have Soviet weapons?

And while Israel is suspected of possessing nuclear weapons, it hasn't been established as fact.

All the nations who signed the non-proliferation treaties, and the UN, are interested in preventing the spread of nuclear weapons, because when in the hands of rogue governments, like in Pyongyang or Tehran, they could be used for nuclear blackmail or even worse. That's not a scenario that the world welcomes.

I think in the United States after Hiroshima the world noticed the power of a Nuclear Weapon but I believe America is allowed to have them because we have saved the world twice and they know that we have rules that make it hard for a mad man to take control and launch all our weapons. As for Israel I am not sure why Israel does not have to sign the Nuclear treaty that was made to end the Cold War.

I know what you mean. I thought about it also. What happens is as follows: America prevents the weak countries from making nuclear weapons so it can let loose all hell & destroy them. A good example of that is Iraq which could not defend itself from hell that America brought upon it. (and Japan during WW II when America dropped the bombs on two civilian cities).
Why Israel also has nuclear weapons? Well, America & Israel are great friends, so whatever America has, Israel (SUPPOSEDLY) has also. Except America has no value for human life whatsoever (as you can see from what happened in Iraq); whereas Israel tries very hard to take life into consideration.

America as one of the superpowers allowed themselves to have them. the NPT was signed by countries to control who has nuclear weapons,it also gave them a right to develop nuclear power. israel never signed the NPT,same with some other countries that have nuclear weapons. some have withdrawn from the NPT. france is the country that helped israel.

America is "allowed" to have nuclear weapons because it was the first country to use them, and the rest of the world doesn't want to end up like Hiroshima. Through fear and the threat of nuclear attack, other nations don't really have much of a say in the matter.

2007-02-09 02:33:13 · answer #9 · answered by KidDynomite 3 · 0 1

Israel is not supposed to have them. U.S. law expressly forbids giving aid to any nation that proliferates nuclear weapons. As such, the U.S. doesn't "officially" know about Israel's WMDs, although it's pretty common knowledge that they have them. For reasons that are beyond me, there is a double standard here--and an exceptionally criminal one, at that.

I don't think any nation should be permitted to have nuclear weapons, the U.S. included. The only purpose a weapon serves is to harm people, and since almost everyone overwhelmingly agrees that nuclear war must be avoided at all costs, I honestly don't understand why we have them. Either someone is lying and the U.S. *is* fully prepared to use them, or the U.S. government is just wasting American tax dollars to keep and develop technology that has absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

All of the below have the bomb:
Pakistan
India
PRC
France
Great Britain
Russia
South Africa
and probably others.

It is not the USA objects to anyone having the bomb. It is the moral intent of the user. Iran and North Korea are lunatic regimes. No one expects France, Pakistan, or India to do something insane with a bomb. It is the mental instability of these particular regimes is what makes the world not just the USA cringe at the fact of them having a bomb.
