There is no simple answer to this question as not all Islamic people subscribe to the same dress codes. I have lived in a Muslim country (Azerbaijan) and some of the wedding dresses there were immodest by American standards. We are talking about dresses with cut out bellies to show off ripped abs and nipple tassles.

Some women wore head coverings around town as a regular part of their daily clothes while I was there. I would imagine a woman who covers her head would wear a more traditional Islamic wedding gown such as the one pictured in this link:

I have seen similar dresses in wedding shops in Azerbaijan with cloth that covered everything but the woman's eyes.

Wedding dresses in Azerbaijan used to be red, but now women wear white with a big red sash (the sashes are considered symbols of their virginity).

Of course, Azerbaijan is not representative of the Islamic norms, but it gives you an idea of different wedding dress trends.

My husband is from Pakistan and Muslim and we had a complete Islamic wedding. The dresses are usually in a dark green color or more commonly red. They are are extremely heavy to wear and it usually takes 2-4 people to help the bride walk around in it. They are heavy because they are highly decorated with elaborate beads and heavy stitching, and the material itself is heavy. As for sight restriction, now more than before that is changing. The bride does wear a head covering, but it does not cover her face. It falls neatly over head and beside her cheeks in an elegant fashion. The reason some people say that you don't see her face is because the bride, for traditional purposes, keeps her head and eyes in a downward position. Its suppose to make her look shy, and therefore more attractive.

It really varies according to culture. Some dresses are heavy with decoration and jewelry. This site will show you all the different ways Muslims can get married. (I particularly like the Palestinian "money hat"!)

we wear gorgeous weddings dresses !
it is pretty normal white dresses and similar to what the pride wears in the west but with a creative touches and beautiful designs and it is so expensive too ;p
in my country the weddings are divided between men and women so the pride don't have to cover her face or something , she can wear anything :)
it is more to be a culture thing so you can see some differences between every country :)

Fiction.. you can wear anything as long as it covers the body you can have your neck (a little part of your chest is OK) arms (below the elbow preferably) and your feet. The fabric shouldn't be see-through and it shouldn't be too tight..
