Oh sure that makes sense. What exactly do you expect them to do about it? There are plenty of Atheists who give Atheism a bad name, why don't you go hunt each of them down and give them a good talking too?

...First, what is a "real Christian"? In Acts, we are told the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch. The name "Christian", perhaps slanderously intended, stuck. But a Christian is a disciple of Jesus Christ, and one who has believed on (trusted in) the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her as Savior.
...Regarding the media: the media is mostly of a liberal slant, does not understand nor believe the Gospel, and most media types are very hostile toward the Lord Jesus Christ and the true Gospel, 1 Corinthians 15:3-6:
...3 "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
...4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
...5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve."
...6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;
***********************************************
...The media is hostile toward Christianity, and they highlight those caught in sin and in questionable situations, those who profess to be Christians; they cast doubt on Christian evidences, deny the Bible when they can, and question the Bible when it doesn't follow their agenda, and generally wish to make Christians appear silly, out of touch with reality, ignorant, and in "need" of "liberalizing" with their cultural and doctrinal updates.
...The good things that Christians do go mostly unreported, but so what - we live to please the Lord and He can see what we are doing, which is what counts; what man sees and says really doesn't matter.

The only real Christians are the fundamentalists. The rest of the "christians" are deceivers.
To be a "fundamentalist" is simply to believe the fundamentals of Christianity:
1) the inerrancy of the Bible
2) the virgin birth of Christ
3) the doctrine of substitutionary atonement by the blood of Jesus Christ
4) the bodily resurrection of Jesus
5) the imminent return of Jesus Christ.
Why do those bother you so much?

This of course is the same thing that many non-Muslims say that moderate Muslims should be doing about the Fundamentalist Muslims.
Kudos to you for turning it around.
I'll be interested in reading the replies.

Why should they be concerned about 'their name'? Why can't people be happy, and find fulfillment in their own beliefs and faith? People will always criticize and believe differently than you do, but does it shake your faith? Are they so concerned about their reputation, more so than the happiness that should come from their faith?
Its hard to believe in any religion these days, as they have all become as messed up as politics. Better to have your faith, and leave religion out of it!

I do my part, I ignore them. People like Pat Robertson and co. are famous for one thing and that is making waves. As long as they keep saying ridiculous things they will be splattered all over the media and people will drink it up. The media loves it when they expose how bigoted and insane they are and so do average Americans. Just think if Pat Robertson and all the right wing Christians started making sense all of a sudden. I think part of the reason they say such outlandish things is because they crave attention. You should do like me and ignore them too.

when you oppose them it validates their beliefs all the more, and the trouble is they have no limits to their actions in that mindset. On the other hand the so called prosperity gospel, i.e. buying your way into God's favour, is so shocking to me. They say the 'seed' of God is money- the seed is the holy spirit. This is blasphemy to replace the spirit with what is contemptible and dead. I base my philosophy on star wars, Luke was the only one to see the good in Darth Vader and I see the good in fundies as the only way to bring them round to what is real

What do you want us to do? Start a war? That's all we can do is be tolerant of them and love them, just as we love all people who make us look bad (and that includes atheists and agnostics too - no matter how many names some of you call us). We can try to be better examples of God's love, but if we became as vocal and disruptive as the 'bad' Christians, we would be just as bad.
