If you can't see the label or the title of the cd when you look at the cd-rom icon while the disc is in the drive, that means it's not reading the disc. The drive may need to be cleaned, get a cd (disc) type cleaner and run it in the drive a few times. Also, you may need to uninstall the device through "device manager", then reboot so the cdrom can be re-installed. If not, update the drivers for the device, they may have become corrupted. Be sure to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones though.

Good Luck :)

Do this:
Go to www.download.com
Look for a burning software, if you can get nero for a day trial or whatever that would be great. One that is normally free is Ashampoo Burning Studio. Download and install it. Now open the Ashampoo Burning Studio and click on create Data CD or Data DVD and try burning. If this gives you an error then there is something somewhere else. Could be the CDDRIVE laser went bad or the internal connection stopped working or the driver has gone wrong.. Could be anything.

You need to be a little more specific with your question.

I understand you are trying to copy from your internal hard drive to your cd drive. Can you confirm you have a cd writer as your cd drive, and also whether you have placed a writable cd in the cd drive.

We also need to know what sort of data you are trying to copy. Not exactly the data just are you copying music, documents etc.

yes you need to burn files to a cd/dvd,assuming you have cd/dvd writer using nero or other burning software, maybe your thinking of a floppy drive where you can drag and drop!

What are you using to ntry to copy with Software??? You need something besides windows software. You need either Nero, or Roxio software to do it trouble free.

It can't be done this way. You need CD burning software like Nero.
