You could have something as simple as a key stuck on your keyboard. Turn the system off, unplug and replug it, and try to install XP again. If this doesn't work, then you may want to consider booting up on a bootable floppy disk that has DEBUG and FDISK on it. There is a DEBUG procedure on the internet that will wipe the first sectors on your hard drive making it appear as if it doesn't have an operating system on it at all. I could find it again if necessary. Be forewarned that if you mistype one of the DEBUG commands, then you could possibly make your hard drive unbootable or worse. Once you have done this, then try installing XP again. If you continue to get the error message, then I would contact Microsoft for assistance. You may have a bad XP CD. It is certainly possible.
