Why is it that if I claim that the keyboard, I'm typing this on, regularly turns into green cheese from the planet Krypton, then everyone will call me insane, but if someone claims that the bread they are eating and the wine they are drinking are turning into the flesh and blood of a guy born of a virgin, who is his own father, and who rose from the dead 2000 years ago, then he's called a Catholic and should be respected for his faith?

@Jesus Freak.
no offence intended. I am saying, in my oppinion it is absurd to believe, that a guy died 2000 years ago for me. and yes, in my oppinion its crazy, but jumping off a bridge with a rubber tied to your feet is also crazy.
Just because I thing there are crazy things aorund me, I am not into offending people.
BUT, I feel offended, when people keeps telling me, a guy died for me 2000 years ago, and if I dont believe it, I am ignorant. see ? its an offence. why am I ignorant not believe in fairy tales ?

this is a part of the problem I have with organized religion. All religous orders have been manipilating the thoughts of the masses for thousands of years. these "ideas" have been basically burned into the human mind after several millenia of brain washing techniques.
THERE IS NO GOD...WAKE UP PEOPLE,
the idea of a omnipotent being, is a primitive concept, created by primitive minds, who lived in a primitive culture that is long dead....the human race has evolved since these concepts were first put before us.
It puzzles me that in todays world with all our advancements as a race, we still have people who believe in an invisible being that both loves and hates its own creation, as well as the creator and destroyer of our world?? the whole bible sounds more like a soap opera plot, than the words of a living deity.
the reason all the churches created the lies, and still use them is to control of the masses. the worlds religous leaders would not be able to fleece the public of its hard earned funds with out putting "the fear of god" into them.
now with that all said, i do believe that the bible is a fairly accurate book, with the exception of the whole god idea, it was witten by men from a primitive culture who still blamed the effects of weather on the gods. Simply put, it is a historical record of mankind during a primitive state of being.
I think the writers of this book, wrote in terms they could understand. there is too much strees put on the immaculate conception to wave it away as false. MY belief here is that perhaps Mary was impregnated by artificial insemination. most likely by other-world people. I belive she was the subject of DNA testing by a race of people who were far more advanced than us.
I could go on about all this, I have supporting evidence for all my claims, but I wont.

The absurdity of science. As a physicist and an agnostic, I have to say you really seem to have the strangest ideas of absurdity. Do you actually know anything about science?
Consider this, the current theory of the universe is, we live on a membrane, it may be two parallel, the one we live on and a shadow one. These would be finite. Or we may exist on an infinite warped brane. The universe may have started when two 11 dimensional branes collided. How absurd does this really sound? And then add to that that we may actually live in a universe that exists in 10 or 11 or 99 dimensions but all but 4 of them are so tightly rolled up that they have no effect on us and we cannot see them!

Look at the same keyboard. Was it created? How do you know? If it was created then there must be a creator. But we don't want to have to follow the creators rules for typing so we don't want it to be created. Now we are going to have to explain away this very obvious creation. How will we do that? Would it start a little like this? "Millions and millions of years ago there was this plastic molecule and it started to mutate". Now that is Absurd no?
P.S. I agree 100% that misreading the Bible so badly that you make sacraments and rituals into idols is a really sad situation. The Bread and Wine thing especally.

Not only Catholics eat the bread and drink the wine (well, actually my church uses grape juice) but it is a symbol of body and blood to us, not actually turning into the flesh and blood. If Catholics believe that it is actually flesh and blood, then disregard this comment.
As far as I am concerned, you are more than welcome to consider your keyboard a SYMBOL of green cheese from the planet Krypton, that would still be weird, but you would no longer be considered insane.

Because there is no basis that your keyboard would do that. The wording you are quoting is absurd. There is no way we can wrap our minds around the amazingly wonderful God that we have. He is not bound by our human logic. Jesus came to fulfill prophecy. There were people that thought He was crazy. It's not just someone who is claiming what you have quoted. Jesus is the fulfillment of phrophecy.

We all have our freedoms to believe in what we choose...providing we do not hurt others.
If believing in a God, following the Catholic faith, makes people happy...and they are not hurting others...what is the harm?
Today, we are all so lacking in understanding and acceptance of others. Both believers and non-believers alike. If you have not traditional 'faith' - you are entitled to it. Just as believers are entitled to think as they do.
Don't let anyone ridicule you for your beliefs...and please do not ridicule others for theirs. Its truly as simple as that. And if we all followed along that logic...the world would experience a peace it has never known. So how bout it starts with you...

Exactly! Besides, the bible was published so that the church could keep people under their rule. People are naive and this is the twenty first century. But if that's what they want to believe, then so be it. Just do push it on me or belittle me for my beliefs!

First of all, it doesn't TURN into flesh, or blood.
Its not like,
"Oh look. Bread. Omg it turned into flesh!"
"Oh look. Wine. Omg it turned into blood"
Its a symbol, okay?
Or is that a big word for you?
