well if you haven't bought your ticket yet, then you need your social security # and birth certificate, and all those info. but if you already have your ticket, then the passport and ticket is all you need, until you get to the airport. they usually ask you to get in a certain line and fill out something to show to the flight attendance or the people working in the airport so you can pass through.

I've travelled with only a passport and an air ticket (and money of course). That's basically all you need. Hong Kong doesn't require VISA, so you're all set.
Although, its always wise to bring your ID with you.

Ok make sure you have 2 copies of all your important documents, just in case you lose them. Keep the copies in a seperate place to your original documents. Also have spare passport photos of yourself, maybe get an extra 2 photos. Make sure you have Visas if nessesary and all your vacinations. Also you might want to use Traveller's Cheques rather than actual cash, and get these copied too.
And HAVE FUN!! : )

Check if you need a visa and I would take a photo driving license and perhaps a photo ID card if you have one.
If you are at all worried about airports, you can always ask for 'assistance' from your airline, you can be met from one plane and taken to the next if you require, all you need to do is ask.
