Long story short: I was on an extremely high dose of 3 different steroids about 20 days ago. Since then I've had hormonal problems to say the least, one of which is mild acne. I had a bump on the side of my nose, which I thought was a pimple, so I squeezed it. A small amount of pus did come out, but the next morning (and each sucessive morning thereafter) it has been worse, more swollen, and extremely sore. It feels hard (a lump the size of a pea), and then "squishy"/fluidy for about a 1 inch diameter around it. It's red and extremely sore. Also, that side of my nose is stuffy and I have an awful headache, as well as a low fever and a sore throat. This morning, I also started to get white discharge from the eye on that side! That being said, I get CHRONIC sinus infections and I don't know if all these symptoms are just coinciding with a weird pimply-thing. Does it sound like staph? I'm going to the doctors later today but it's really painful and I'd appreciate any help! THANKS!

THank you, yes, I tried that. But does that mean you think it IS staph? Or something else?

Okay, I just got back from the doctors and she said that it was from the infected sinus fluid (from the sinus infection) leaking into my face I guess (?). She said that the pimple was probably unrelated and she prescribed antibiotics. I'm just praying that they work!!! Thank you so much everyone!

No way to tell the name of a specific infection without the tests, but it could be celluitis too. Tell your Dr everything and get a pain killer too, then please come back and let us all know what he said. Good luck, and remember not all staph infections are the same, so if that's what you are worried about, don't cause the worst ones would have shown themselves in less than 24 hours

Thanks for getting back to us I hope the Dr drugs work quickly and you feel better soon. Those sinus infections can clearly be a major problem.

A hot compress may help draw out the infection. Using a drawing salve such as ichthammol ointment can also help pull the pimple out.

It sounds like you have what we used to call a "blind pimple", because it isn't forming a visible head that you can lance.

If you can't get rid of it and it is causing you these problems, especially the fever, see your doctor. They can put you on antibiotics, and they can also lance it so the infection goes away faster.

Don't let it sit there, especially if your eye has a discharge. Like a badly abcessed tooth, if not taken care of, you could have your eyesight affected, up to and including blindness.

Go see your doctor.

Honey, you need to see an "ENT" doctor.......He will determine if its something to get concerned about or not......An ENT, is a Ears, Nose & Throat, doctor......Otherwise, it sounds like its just an infected, pimple, that you might want to leave alone, at this point...Especially if its causing your eye to get mucous.. Altho, it could very well be a "Boil" and they say "Not to mess with those" at all !!! Hopefully your doctor will give you a "Referral" to an "ENT" because those guys are the ones, who are "Specialist" at this sort of thing....And good at it too!!! My daughter saw, one two years ago, because since she was a baby she'd get "Tonsilitis" and her tonsil's would end-up the size of marbles!! I kid you not, even as a baby!! I'd never seen anything like it! Well, I'd take her to her PCP, and every time, he'd say she needs to get this atleast more than 3 times a year, before we can have her tosils removed, right? Well , that always frustrated me, because sometimes he'd say that it wasn't Tonsilitis, that it was just a "Soar Throat" and recommend antibiodics, until two years ago, she just kept getting it, and I finally took her to the ER, and they said: "You need to suggest to her doctor, if she's getting this so often, to remove her tonsils"..... That's when we did her "Follow-Up" with her PCP, and told him, what the ER said, and he then "Referred" her to the "ENT" Thank-God" too, because this whole thing was getting so old.....She now has her tonsils out, and hasn't gotten sick, in a long time, in her "Throat" anyway......So, my suggestion to you, is request to see a "ENT". Good Luck to you, hun! I hope you get to feeling better really soon!! Smile!! If you can....I feel bad for you, it'll get better you'll see...

try putting a hot compress on it to pull the infection to the surface and it will also help with the pain. as hot as you can stand it.
