I've always wanted to learn new languages. Is there any software available that can teach me my favorite languages: English, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Chinese.I wanted a software that is free and can teach me how to talk with the required accent.I know that there is no perfect software available that can teach me fluently. The software should have someone talking and I will repeat the words. Also, I want another software that can teach me how to write and understand the words. So it means I need at least 3 software that can teach me to write, read and understand, and talk.Hope you can help.

My college uses a software called TeLL me More, by Auralog. I found it more complete and less repetitive. It covers not only the basics, but also intermediate or advanced level. My goal was to become fluent so it was perfect for me. It has a lot of different activities: picture/word association, videos, dialogues,..., includes also grammar and conjugation. It has also more content than any other software as far as level and number of hours of learning. Their speech recogntion is great so you can have a dialogue with the computer. They have a free demo at http://www.auralog.com/.
I also found that site that lists the best language software http://learn-spanish-software-review.toptenreviews.com/.

The best way to learn a language would be through immersion, visiting these countries. Learning a language will require some time. In addition to software, you can have books which are useful as well. Audio CDs like Pimsleur for instance might help you out but you cannot get any feedback on your pronunciation so I did not like it so much.

I have a CD purchased at "Hastings book store" for $10
It's called "31 languages of the world" and boasts up to 5000 words per language.
I allows you to listen to a native speak the words in their own tongue, record your voice into your computer for comparison, or just speak along with the CD. It has Speech analysis, interactive games, grammar references, and a alphabet overview. with over 75,000 words total and15,000 phrases, online testing and feedback. For $10 it really is quite nice. You may also find a newer version by ther same company if you call or email them directly.

The Cd is put out by "Transparent Languages"
It can be played on any PC based computer with Windows 98 and above with the free "Quick Time player" installed.

Their phone is (603) 262-6300
email support is "support@transparent.com"
ISBN# is 1-59251-045-0
This number can be used anywhere in the world to track down this CD. Try Amazon or a Hasting ,it is at least a year old so you may need to contact the numbers I listed above directly. hope this helped and good luck, SGRS
