i do understand suplly and demand but 5000 for a sr5 ????

Sounds like sour grapes. Have you noticed that classic muscle car prices have skyrocketed? You said it yourself "supply and demand". Plus they are great cars. The Supply of GEO Metros has decreased but nobody seems to care so the price is low.

The 1984-1987 toyota Carolla is expensive because of serveral reasons but the main ones are the movie/anime/tv show of a japanese show called "Initial D" This show features a Trenuo AE86 or in US terms the Carolla GTS/SR5. and second reason is the drifting and import scene where this car is modified, raced, and Drifted

Go for Celica GT-S 1985. last of the rear wheel drive.
I've had two and theyre a bunch of fun.

I think that since those cars are pretty rare I would say they are starting to become collector's items, I rarely see those cars around anymore.
